Now and again something just jumps off the page,i thought just that when looking at This years Tingle Creek.
Sizing Europe
was available to shrewdies at 5/2 the other day,now that his main danger ‘Finians Rainbow’ looks like missing the race, this years Champion Chaser has been cut to 7/4,now that might seem a bit tight too some but from an Ante-Post position the main concern would be will they actually bring him over from Ireland,i believe he’s 1/5 to catch the ferry, what else could trouble him? Ah yes the Sandown Fences, they do take some jumping,i’d go 1/5 he clears the lot effortlessly, this fellow just doesn’t fall,so what else is there to beat him? The trip? Not at Sandown, its a good stiff 2 miles that suits better than 3m for sure, what about the opposition then? ‘Tataniano’!! Fine looking sort, powerful galloping style and one may argue through collateral form with the useful ‘Osana’ he has the beating of the fav.Had it been a flat galloping course like Aintree i would give Tataniano a big shout over 2m but not Sandown. No the only thing that can beat Sizing Europe is ME putting him up on here!
November 30, 2011 at 15:42 #380330KF: Totally agree with both posts however with one minor change; i do not believe Peddlers Cross will come unstuck as Cheltenham and despite having some nice money running on him at 8s for the Arkle i am slowly swaying back to my old favourite Al Ferof! IMHO Peddlers is the better horse however at Cheltenham taking into account the course and fences i agree that Al Ferof can get the better of him.
My problem is that i have laid out some nice wagers already so will wait for the NRNB option to kick in until backing Al Ferof as my one concern is that Mr Nicholls has always dithered about his best trip and i can see him bypassing the challenge and opting instead for the Jewson! I know this race does not carry anywhere near the kudos but Mr Hales just loves to get a winner at the festival after all his bad luck.
So you can see my conundrum i have always had the Arkle down as a 2 horse race since March last year but was mightily impressed with Peddlers debut over fences and then after reading Mr Nicholls stable tour comments on Al Ferof i opted to go in large! Patience as they say and all that tosh ……………
November 30, 2011 at 15:44 #38033114/1 for Tingle/QM double with Lads.
November 30, 2011 at 15:52 #380333Sizing Europe had a hard race in the JN Wine. Hope they’ve got him back in good shape Gord.
When is SE coming over? What are the winds like across the Irish Sea? Seem to remember they said SE didn’t travel well on his return back from the aborted King George last year, didn’t run for ages because of it. Have I got that right?
Probably won’t be able to dominate in the same way as in the QM either, with other front runners in the field.
Not saying he won’t win. Just there are considerations (other than straight "form" lines) to suggest 7/4 at
this stage
might not be the good bet it seems.

Exactly Ginge, its that daft problem that bothers me more than anything incredibly! But its a prestigious race and one that suits a 2m Champion Chaser,he handles Soft ground so i’m not even bothered about rain!
Superman, took the 14’s,well spotted aboutSizing Europe
winning both!
GDC,you’ll get 14’s aboutAl Ferof
doing the double too.Get On!
November 30, 2011 at 17:08 #380342Gord i agree on Sizing Europe this week i do and i like AL Ferof as well.

Hope both Sizing Europe and Al Ferof win at the weekend Gord. They’re both in the best of my totetentofollow lists. Along with Mourad in the Hattons Grace.

Darren
Sizing Europe looks a moral, and 7/4 will look pretty big, come Saturday afternoon.
Wouldn’t back anything to beat Simonsig on Friday, though I doubt I’ll have a bet in the race.December 1, 2011 at 09:30 #380429Have taken the 14s with Laddies re Sizing Europe for Tingle/QMCC.
Cannot find anyone doing the Al Ferof double but will continue searching

Come Saturday you should see a ‘special’ price for both GDC,
i got 16/1 aboutSomersby
to do the double a couple of years ago and guess who won? I’m choking up thinking about Somersby cutting the Champ down hand over fist…C’mon Choc jumping the last,c’mon son i know you’ll run up the hill,C’MON Choc all the time with that nagging doubt he just wasn’t going to get there,Sickener that one.Mind you i did the pair of them Ante-Post for the following years Champion Chase,oh yes!
December 1, 2011 at 10:49 #380440Ha, good old Sizing i remember it well
Great race and i had Somersby EW at 33s i think it was! Cheers, i shall jump aboard the Al Ferof double on Saturday although i’ll be very surprised to get 10s let alone 14s!!
December 4, 2011 at 11:04 #380972Good bit of teamwork there from those who contributed to the
Sizing Europe
discussion,it paid off thanks!
Superman
,a particularly good bit of Foresight suggesting taking the 14/1 about the Tingle Creek/Champion Chase double. If he turns up he wins,no question and he’ll be 2/1 fav on the day! I have to say being a REAList but whoever thought ‘Wishful Thinking’ was ever going to be a Champion Chaser and that ‘Kauto Stone’ had anywhere near the form to trouble the biggest certainty of the jumps season so far is beyond me,still hindsight is a wonderful thing!
By the way, forget that run from
Al Ferof
yesterday, his forms in the book and 7/1 is still about 2 points too big imo for The Arkle.Mentions to
West End Rocker
and my King George Xmas tip from last year
Deep Purple
,both put in superb runs yesterday, particularly the latter, did you see the prices he traded at in running? Unbelievable for a horse never off the bridle.
December 4, 2011 at 11:33 #380975Right lads the gloves have come off big time and i’m prepared to put it up on here now i have filled my boots at the prices over the last month or so,if this horse doesn’t shorten now i really am the Muppet so many think i am.There’s still plenty of 12/1 and 10/1 on the High st so i dont feel greedy having taken all the 14/1 with Corals.I’m not going to say
Spirit Son
was born to win a Champion hurdle as i am not a great fan of his Sire ‘Poliglote’,but he ticks every other box, being an extremely lightly raced 5yo with a physique to build on he can but only improve as a 6yo,its not so much his run in the Supreme against the year older Al Ferof that catches the eye but the absolute demolition job he did at Aintree after, the Official handicapper reckons he only improved 6lb from his Cheltenham to Aintree run,i reckon nearer 10lb with plenty to come.I know the stable have ‘Grandouet’ and ‘Binocular’ in the wings too but unlike Ginge,i dont back em all,i have nailed my colours to the mast and if ‘Hurricane Fly’ and his fragilities surface my fellow could go off Fav,2 runs and the big one will do nicely.
Spirit Son
£250 e/w 14/1 Corals Champion hurdle.
£50 e/w 12/1 Corals
£100 e/w 12/1 Ladbrokes
£100 e/w 10/1 Bet 365£6900
December 5, 2011 at 09:37 #381145KF: CH yet again is looking like a great race to discuss up til the off with ‘glass legs’ will he/wont he run! I have got my very good prices about Zarkandar EW and can see him troubling the lot of them.
I can totally see where you are coming from with Spirit Son so will have a half stake EW bet also as i have been looking to take on Hurricane Fly with a few EW.
Superman/KF: Thanks also from me for steering me to Laddies to take up some of the 14s Tingle/QMCC double. That’s another docket to add to the collection to hopefully keep me warm over the winter months Win/lose or draw it is a free bet as i had a double stake wager on Sizing Europe at 7/4 in the morning, thought they had marked him up wrong
Not sure what anyone else got but i could only get 8s about Al Ferof winning Henry VIII and Arkle as i had to do it in Billys!
December 5, 2011 at 18:10 #381229Gord i like your thoughts on these 2 horses.SIR DES CHAMPS though he beat trees i still think he turn into a smashing chaser. i see Mullins said he drop him back to 2ms next. but he did this with Cooldine as well when he was 3rd behind Follow The Plan so i hope he goes to Moraity after this race then to RSA where he be a big player.
And other horse is INVICTUS Beat Gift Of Dgab very easy today another chaser going places this fellow will be better than WALKON over fences in my mind.
