Simply sick and tired of farcical Group 1s in this country. Well over half of them have been run at a dawdle. The opening furlong was similar to the rubbish I’d expect at an all-weather circuit. And given it was a farcical pace, we had a farcical winner in Timepiece. This is the worst British Group 1 of the season. Just look at the Roll of Honour. Thank goodness Goldikova blessed us with her presence 2 years ago, but just so many bad horses win this and do sod all else. Music Show hasn’t won since, Nahoodh’s only Group 1, Simply Perfect’s only Group 1, without doubt Timepiece’s only Group 1. Not to mention that pathetic Clive Brittain 50/1 rag that beat Soviet Song. I actually thought after a furlong that he was going to better that achievement with 66/1 Masaya.

And the ride on Sahpresa was abysmal. Cannot believe a French jockey of all people has been caught out by the slow pace.

Sorry – how do you work that out? 2,000 Guineas? 1,000 Guineas? Derby? Coronation? Lockinge? ST James Palace? POW? Eclipse? Queen Anne? Hardly dawdles. I’ll give you the Oaks but not many else and certainly not more than half.

As for Timepiece – she won easily and confirmed the very high regard she has always been held in.

Sounds a bit like pocket talk here Zark!

When it comes to the Falmouth and Oaks I agree with Zark, funereal pace is frustrating and leads to a false result.

Zark is certainly not talking out of his/her pocket, just good race analysis on her part. Sahpresa an unlucky loser although predictably so.

It is possible for punters to identify when there is likely to be a false pace. Not that I identified the winner.

This has in general been a fabulous season so far, so many outstanding horses.

Irish 2000, Coronation Cup, Oaks, Gold Cup, Pretty Polly, Eclipse and Falmouth. If you want to go over to France as well, then the Ganay, Pouliches, GP de Saint Cloud and Prix Jean Prat.

I’m going to speak about Cormack about this ‘pocket talk’ rubbish. Anybody from now on that suggests anybody’s opinion is down to ‘pocket talk’ should be banned. I am absolutely sick and tired of people suggesting it of others and myself. If I have a bet on it am I not allowed an opinion?

David Simcock called the race farcical and he saddled the 3rd at 40/1. Pocket talk from him as well?

Oh poor baby – you go speak to Corm and tell him all about nasty old me. Blimey my 20 month old twins are more grown up than you.

Read your own thread and you will see you have proven that you are talking total rubbish. As far as I am aware the Irish 2,000 and Pretty Polly are not run "in this country" and I would hardly say the Eclipse was run at a crawl would you???? That leaves you with the two I stated plus a stayers race!!!

We’ve all been accused of pocket talk, am surprised you were the victim here Zark. It’s often obvious when happening for real and banning the accusation would result in too much of it. Frustrating I know, but just something we all have to put up with.

    Jonibake,

Do you have to be so aggressive?
That in itself could be seen as "childish".

    Aggressive?? Get a grip.

If Zarkava wants to slag off the horses, jockeys and "half" the group 1 races as vehemently as he does he must expect something back in return.

You are right about one thing though – I am incredibly childish as you should have worked out from my previous posts! :D

    Zark,

Just think of it like this:

Jonibake implied he backed Timepiece. (Well done Jonibake).

    However,
He would like to believe his winning bet was nothing to do with luck and that Timepiece was the rightful winner. He’d like to believe it was nothing to do with pace.

Just whos pocket is it talking here?

Pace is a vital ingredient for punters to take in to account in their betting. Those who can not identify flattered horses are unlikely to make an overall profit.

By golly the man’s a genius. How did you work that out?!!!

Of course Timepiece was the "rightful" winner – who else could be?

I COMPLETELY agree that it was down to pace. That’s why I said "great ride from Tom".

That has nothing to do with the arguement which is Zarkava’s false acclamation that over half of this season’s Group 1’s have been run at a dawdle.

If that is talking through my very full pockets then I apologise!!! :D :D :D

Poor Gordon. He’s probably had a nice relaxing morning with the wife and kids followed by a quite round of Golf, back home picking his latest winners then comes on here only to spend the next 20 minutes reading through the latest episode of ‘Dallas’………..

    Jonibake,
You accused Zark of pocket talk. As in – you implied Timepiece would have won even without the pace being funereal and that Sahpresa was not unlucky in any way.

You now say Timepiece’s win was down to pace.

Therefore, to claim her assertion that Sahpresa was unlucky, seems like "pocket talk" is wrong.

    EDIT
Still can’t bring myself to call Zarkava as a "he".

You’re right – we should not be hijacking his thread like this. Gord is very sensitive and hates this sort of confrontation.

I "implied" nothing of the sort. I said she won easily – which she did. Who knows what would have happened if the pace had been quicker. She MIGHT have won even easier!!!

I made the same comment about being difficult to find Kingy’s, posts on the previous page.

    You’re still going!

    Pot, kettle black.

Maybe it’s time others found their own betting thread? :)
