The 4.45 Leicester is the race to focus on today. The favourite Verinco has solid claims and ought to go well making a quick reappearance after a win at Beverley on Saturday. Lesleys Choice gets the services of Kieran Fallon as he debuts for Joanna Davis and he also ought to run well. Barring these two the rest of the field look mainly exposed and therefore it should prove a good opportunity for old favourite Equuleus Pictor to make a belated return to the Winners’ Enclosure. A horse who’s optimum has always looked to be 5f with ground on the easy.. John Spearing’s gelding gets those conditions today after two promising runs this season in hotter company.

    1pt win

    EQUULEUS PICTOR 4.45 Leicester

A great couple of days racing at Epsom soon to get underway; starting with the fillies today at 4.05 in the Oaks. A lot of different opinions regarding this race but for what it is worth I am in the Wonder Of Wonders camp. Supremely bred and apparently fast improving she has always been regarded as the Ballydoyle number one Oaks filly and I think she will take a lot of beating with stamina her forte. In terms of betting today, Epsom will mainly be nothing more than a thrilling watch and I will be keeping my powder dry for a couple of well handicapped horses this evening.
Firstly in Goodwood’s 6.45, Huff and Puff is expected to take the world of beating off what is considered a more than lenient mark. Only workmanlike in winning on his reappearance he is upped to a more suitable trip tonight, improved physically, and the 100/30 is more than generous.
From Goodwood up to Doncaster; Illustrious Forest is expected to run a huge race off what can only be described a platers mark. The step up in trip is perfect and this race looks to lack real strength.
Two strong fancies here so I’ve gone against my norm and would recommend a little touch on the double aswell.

    100/30
    1pt win

    ILLUSTRIOUS FOREST 8.45 Doncaster
