Hi GT – what sort of lay stake would you recommend based on your figures?

I’d suggest either one of these two Mtoto:

    31 points (win) @ 8/1 Smad Place
    28 points (win) @ 9/1 Many Clouds
    LAY 60 points @ 1.66 Djakadam (liability of 40.2)
    (Total liability of 99.2 points)

    Or

    21 points (win) @ 8/1 Smad Place
    19 points (win) @ 9/1 Many Clouds
    LAY 89 points @ 1.66 Djakadam (liability of 59.63)
    (Total liability of 99.63 points)

Skybets stake back as a free bet if your horse loses in the 1.50 Cheltenham is worth looking at if you can bet with them.I wonder if all 8 will turn up?.

If you go to back a certainty always buy a return ticket.

Hi GT – Surely that Yanworth bet was surely before todays race. Odds now 3/1 best price. VC are 5/2.

Hi GT – Surely that Yanworth bet was surely before todays race. Odds now 3/1 best price. VC are 5/2.

Immediately after the race Mtoto (and I mean within seconds) I had a look on Oddschecker where they were mostly showing Yanworth around 8/1 for the Festival. Then heard Tanya Stevenson say something like “Blah and De and Blah (three bookies) have shortened to 5/2 (think including Paddy Power) but VC (and some other firm) are 9/2”. Did I hear that wrong? Presume VC weren’t 9/2 when most were around 8/1 this morning?

I continued looking at Oddschecker where the odds all turned blue (for shortening). Some were 5/2, some were 3/1, Bet Fred were definitely 7/2 along with I believe Boylesports; VC were showing 9/2 which is why I quoted 9/2 in my post with 7/2 as the minimum price to take.

9/2 was on Oddschecker quite a long time after the race. Kept on looking until my interest in the Cleeve (3:35) took over, about five or ten minutes before that race (3:30 or 3:25). After the Cleeve, Yanworth’s top price was showing 3/1. Unfortunately, my VC account was closed some time ago, Bet Fred only allow me SP (just as well be closed) and I don’t have an account with Boylesports. Betfair’s top price since today’s race has always been no bigger than around 3/1, so I haven’t been able to back the bloody horse myself.

If anyone can please look in today’s Racing Post to check VC’s Festival price this morning (if they’ve got Cheltenham ante-post prices in the paper) – would be grateful. Also, if anyone tried to back Yanworth with VC @ 9/2 before 3:16 and couldn’t get on – then let me know and I’ll change the Yanworth bet.

so you quoted a price/bet you did not place, sorry if i have read that wrong but that does seem a bit odd.
Not having a dig ginger(as i enjoy this thread)just thought you must have bagged 9/2
apologizes if i have read the situation wrongly(which is more than likely)

Cheers GT – They must have been bowled over at the 9/2. Yanworth was mighty impressive today. Seems that the VC 9/2 only lasted a minute or so then into 7/2 at @ 3.12pm then into 5/2 @ 4.01pm. See link below

Found this by clicking on horses name on oddschecker – quite a useful function.
