Are you keeping one thread now? Thanks Theo,
Real shame about Rajdhani Express, genuine, sound jumping horse who loved the big stage. Winner at Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals. Takes all the gloss off Sound Investment winning.Yes, this will be my only thread now.
Will keep four figures. Flat, Jumps, and Overall.
Plus a seperate “Race Of The Day” one, whose profit/losses will also be included in the other figures.Apart from Breeders Cup, that’s probably it for the Flat until April.

Nevertheless, a good start to the new venture and a decent race to have gone with.

Looked at Ayr, but of the two races of reasonable quality – one (3:55) is a novice handicap chase (don’t like them this early in the season). The other (3:20) there’s so much pace in the race. Thought about putting up both Lucinda Russell horses, Ballycool might have the race run to suit, but isn’t easy to win with. Had it been eight runners would’ve gone for him each way. Castledown isn’t exactly straightforward either. Looked an interesting contender, but not sure to get home if taken on up front by one of the the other three possible front-runners. So eventually passed on Ayr.Galway race (2:30) appealed as an open race. At the prices want to be against Kylecrue. Front runner, may not jump as well if taken on (by Aranhill Chief). Possibly better on very soft and/or not enough of a test of stamina. If Ruby wasn’t on him don’t think it would be favourite. Can see why outsider Ad Idam has been backed this morning; some form makes him look well-handicapped, but appears to me on the downgrade so left that one alone. Ravished looks more exposed than some of these. Two JP horses have similar chances. Drumlee did best of those held up last time, but looked to be coming through to win and didn’t. imo Nothing to do with trip. That said, trainer is in good form. Hash Brown just gets the vote for “saver” over his owner-mate. Crying out for this sort of trip and could be a JP special. Although the fact he doesn’t win very often means I’ve looked elsewhere for a main bet. Valours Minion is a prolific winning chaser. Won a similar race last time off a 4 lbs lower mark, now 1 lb worse off for 1/2 length with runner-up Aranhill Chief, with a further 3 3/4 lengths back to the third. He’s a tryer and the type to have on your side despite his age. As long as it is not too soft should go well again. Obviously, if fancying Valours Minion then Aranhill Chief has a good chance too. Same 7 lb claimer on him that day. No chance against Don Cossack and Co last time, ignore that and should only be just behind Valours Minion in the betting. 12/1 looked massive, now down to 8’s. Slight negative is he’ll be up there with or setting the pace, but can’t have everything. Am relying a bit on the forecast going description; “Yeilding, good-yeilding in places” is fine. If it’s real “Soft” might lay them all back.

Value Is EverythingOctober 26, 2015 at 23:05 #1219256Better day for me with three wins – two main bets and a saver – from four races yesterday. If it wasn’t for the rank outsider winning the Racing Post could’ve been clean sweep (Johannes second).
Must say I think some of the criticism of Dettori is wide of the mark.
Foundation drawn near the rail and a known hold up horse. If looking at the Royal Lodge, evident he was free early at Newmarket. All those factors make it obvious Frankie was going to drop it out near the rail. It was thought by many – me included – Coolmore were going to make it a strong pace. But with three runners – pacemaker seemed to put innitial pace in to the race before slowing it down; making Frankie’s job harder, needing himself to slow a slightly free runner down. By this time Foundation was surounded, with nowhere to go, Frankie made the percentage call in following the clear (in betting terms) second fav, thought to be by far his main danger. Then, two out you can see Frankie look sideways, where the winner was in the way of going around the field. Decision needed to be made there and then whether to follow the rank outsider through or hope for a gap. Usually waiting for a gap is the right thing to do. As it turned out (in hindsight) in this case the wrong decision. It wasn’t Frankie’s best race, but considering the horse’s temperament, draw, positions/temperaments/chances of rivals) it wasn’t that bad, more victim of circumstance than anything.
Coolmore had a plan to get the favourite beaten, it worked. Trouble is their two main hopes are best with a test of stamina, so not only did they get the favourite beat – they got themselves beaten too.
That’s a fair assessment Ginge.
I Just found it very funny considering Frankie’s comments on the morning line the previous week regard barging out, making a gap.
I wrote the following on Facebook regard my 9 year old son being off school this week – How can someone so small, do so little, yet make so much bloody mess….!!!!
And Cormack being quick witted questioned if I was talking about Frankie’s ride on Foundation…Blackbeard to conquer the World

I’ve taken bits and pieces of (on average) 4.83/1 on betfair, but there’s very little liquidity. Probably be able to get bigger than 4’s with bookies in the morning, but I won’t have time to get on here – so:
