Agreed tb, this does not look a good King Ed. tbh I was enormously impressed with Stravigante at Epsom. Showed a great turn of foot and the only one in that race to move through the field. Better than distances back to the placed horses. Wouldn’t surprise me if he turns out to be a Group 1 horse in time. Trainer’s done it with Epsom handicappers before (Conduit). However, Stoute was in magnificent form then and (although I didn’t necessarily expect wins earlier in the week) very few runners have run well… Which is why I haven’t made him the main bet. Just couldn’t resist a bit of the 3/1.
O’l Man River comes from the stable in outstanding form and thought of as their Derby horse at one stage. But he’s run so appallingly this season, can’t have him at the price. Festive Fare is bred to do better at this trip, but didn’t settle at 1m1f last time behind Golden Horn at Newmarket (form is misleading, both winner and 2nd Peacock improved since). Still got scope to improve himself, but too short on what he’s done. Mr Singh won a good maiden at Newbury from yesterday’s second Scottish; well fancied but disappointed at Goodwood. Is he really capable of winning a race like this? Could say the same about Father Christmas, but he’s 25/1 and been cabbage-like and could make a big step forward at this trip if he’s learnt from experience. Magic Dancer‘s Lingfield form doesn’t look up to this, unless once again getting a soft lead in front.
Balios comes from a stable in good form and could’ve won his listed race at Newmarket last time with a better ride. That only a second run and entitled to improve for step up to this trip too. Appears a very genuine type and finds plenty.

The more you look at this race, the more Great Glen stands out.
