Good luckCorry Cup looks a great type of race to bet each way Karinga, despite only two places counting. Romsdal has the third best chance and yet is 22/1. For sure there are two short priced favourites, but only one has to run poorly and there’s going to be a big priced place. Romsdal’s best form is imo only around 4 or 5 lbs below the French horses. It’s true he hasn’t shown that form in a while and to be honest thought I’d be against him today; not looking entirely straightforward. However, has Epsom form and wasn’t expecting 22/1. Romsdal also may well get the run of the race. Often a front runner, are others who can race prominently…
Pethers Moon sometimes does but rarely leads early. Dobbs takes over from Hughes, probably because he’s gone better for him in recent starts. Like Romsdal, disappointed last time and has similar form but as a 5 year old with plenty of racing behind him looks thoroughly exposed.
Sheikhzayadroad is interesting coming from a stable bang in form. But he’s a hold up horse and if a hold up horse is going to win think it’ll be one of the two favs.
Dolniya and Flintshire were 1 – 2 in Meydan; Dolniya more or less tracked the pace that day but is usually further back. French duo and Sheikhzayadroad need to recover from a trip to Meydan too, although they all come from stables in form so have horses to judge them against. Flintshire’s best form is in true run races and if he gets it will be a bigger danger to Dolniya this time. That’s a big IF and the filly has more speed.
Ayrad is the other who doesn’t like being too far away. Unexposed at this trip and goes well on a firm surface. Arguably should be unbeaten at 12f admittedly at a lesser level. Could’ve won easier last time with a clear run. Stable seem in better form now and can see improvement coming; probably not enough improvement but at 50/1 worth finding out.
The early order I am expecting is something like: Romsdal leads followed by Ayrad and Pethers Moon, then Dolniya, Flintshire and Sheikhzayadroad. Hopefully Karinga, Romsdal and Ayrad will get the jump on the French.
