22 points each way @ 5/1 (Corals) AkmalFirst bet I am putting up that I have not placed myself.
Can anybody tell me if they have been refused an each way bet with Corals on this race?
They won’t tell me whether it is just for me or everyone.
I would not be surprised had I constantly had each way bets in 8 runner races with them; but I don’t. Seldom bet each way, and even less often with Corals.
Although it does come the day after my Elusive Pimpernel bet was limited by Stan James.

May 26, 2011 at 19:55 #357410Thanks Deegs,
Do feel very lucky though.
Had I worked the 7:05 out earlier, I’d have made Holberg the main bet at what I believe was the early morning price. Then got out of Akmal just in time before it drifted too far. Earlier in the day Blue Bajan was only 1% better than my price to beat, so not a bet until the rains came; pushing Akmal’s price out and Blue Bajan’s in.
Thought Richard Hills had left it too late on Tazahum, going passed the post convinced it got beat. Albeit by the saver bet.
And again, lucky nothing else kept to that far rail, which is quite a lot faster looking at what happened in the last.

Of the two main bets; Danadana halved in price and possibly unsuited by being held up in a slowly run race where a tail wind favoured front runners. Blue Destination well backed too but disappointed. Saver (front runner) won.Days Stakes 70, Days Return 76.5, Days Profit 6.5 points

Show Maiden just scraped home. Phew. The second, March On Beetroot looks the one for future. At either a stiffer 6f or back at 7f. Finishing strongly.

Great race. Vita Nova put in a performance as good as I thought she could, unlucky to run in to another big improver. Would not be at all surprised if both the front two are worthy of Group 2 if not Group 1 company, by the end of the season.
Meeznah ran her race in third (exposed now) and Crystal Cappella did have a penalty and may be better for the run. However, she has won after a break before and can’t see her beating the first two again; even at level weights.3:35 Haydock

Brilliant to see Cheka’s capable trainer finally getting a good win from this one. Ran well earlier in the season when Eve J-H seemed to be struggling for form. Cheka had some physical problems since his two year old days and the gelding operation has no doubt also brought him on.
Regal Parade probably a bit below form, had a hard race at York.
Shakespearean needs to lead, couldn’t and said “no”. Thought Durcan should have raced wide in third rather than get in behind the front two. Best discounted for future events unless there is no other likely pace setter.Days Stakes 164, Days Return 368.25,

57 points @ 2/1 (PP) MiddayValue Is EverythingMay 28, 2011 at 23:19 #357708St Nicholas Abbey had the Group 3 Huxley set up for him. Main rival Harris Tweed being taken on up front, pulling and going off too quick early. Even losing second close home to six year old Allied Powers. That one hasn’t been at his best on a firm surface or over as far, in the past. With St Nicholas Abbey’s no show for most of last season, there’s little doubt he’s had either physical or mental problems. On the other hand it appears Midday is bomb proof. Just because he’s the chosen representitive of Ballydoyle does not mean they think he’s better than the progressive Await The Dawn. Coronation Cups are known to be easy Group 1’s to win compared to most of that grade. Therefore, an ideal target for one who the team are desperate for Group 1 success for breeding purposes. Another look at the field sees a poor lot of rivals. Best of the rest is Dandino, an admirable individual who scraped home in a Group 2 from one who’s been beaten since in Group 2 company.
Not only is there a line through Sarafina which suggests Midday is capable of taking on top class colts. But Fame And Glory won this last year from Sariska, who looked the winner two out before finding little. Sariska only just beat Midday in the Oaks. Henry Cecil’s mare has arguably improved since and is so consistent. If anything better than ever giving weight on reappearance. We also know she acts well on good-soft and a firm surface. Proven at Epsom, unlike St Nich who can look ungainly.
Although obviously impressive and encouraging for the future at Chester, does St Nicholas Abbey really deserve to be an 11/10 shot? If the two main protaganists were the same price, I’d have difficulty chosing between them, but Midday is 2/1.

Some money going around for Seville, which suggests he’s a likely runner, in my opinion he should be second favourite witha fair 5/1 chance. So another:
