oops DP
September 25, 2012 at 13:05 #414163My point is that if someone records all their bets on a spreadsheet and there are differences in the prices they get and the prices they are able to "put up" as being available then there will be discrepancies. The thread is theoretical and as he had his Stan James account closed, any bet now advised at their available prices will not have been struck unless he has managed to open another account through a 3rd party.
Unless you make a note of bets that are advised and the price the information is not always instantly available. I get the impression that Ginger does not list every bet he actually has so it is probably easier to go through them as they are listed. I’m sure if he made an error calculating his returns on the thread by quoting his actual returns some pedant would point it out.Surely he has been running his threads long enough for people to appreciate that it is successful over time, even if his methodology does not appeal to everyone’s palette.
September 25, 2012 at 17:54 #414187Theotrical? perhaps, but it’s still a damn good show to watch.

25 points @ 9/1 (WH) Pisco Sour*Value Is EverythingSeptember 25, 2012 at 20:28 #414214In fairness to Ginger, the bets and prices he gets are not necessarily the same as he is able to put up here as he does not after time. This thread is "advice" and would be doubling his work of recording bets for the sake of it.
Exactly EF,
There are some bets on here that are different to what I’ve done. For example the bet on Black Spirit on Saturday, I hoovered up most of the value, so there was only a small amount left available (at the time of my bet) so couldn’t put my stake up. Also, Stan James have closed my account, so although I still give their name and price as advice, I myself need to go elsewhere and the amount of value affects stakes. It may be easy for you to keep an account of every bet you have Fist. Remember I back more than one horse per race and can place 5 or more bets on the same horse on betfair, because of poor liquidity.
I don’t like keeping a running total much anyway, as I’ve noticed it’s swayed my betting one way or the other in the past. ie Either trying to consolidate by making favourites value, or not losing much by making outsiders value, so not to lose as much of my current profit. Although I’ve got my mind sorted a lot better these days so hopefully it doesn’t effect me.
I do like to give a few comments on my p/l too which slows things down too. Didn’t realise I hadn’t done a p/l since before Glorious Goodwood. Should be done by the end of next week.
The bank account keeps increasing which is the main thing.

This may add to your workload a little, but i think may be of assistance.
When you have posted your selections, can you put alongside the MINIMUM price you feel each selection can be backed at to obtain value….hopefully this should be fairly easy from your own book.
Those unable to access the thread until later can then make their own judgement should the price have moved.Catch you later and hope the weather is kind
@ Hurdygurdyman….Pro? The man doesn`t even have a betting bank, so if he fails eviction is on the cards!!
In Timeform terms i think he`d get a decent rating but i reckon there would be a squiggle afterSeptember 26, 2012 at 09:14 #414230Will do Softie.
