Have a sneaky feeling that won`t happen though
.
Have a sneaky feeling it will Softie. Tricky day today with most of the "value" amongst the outsiders. One good winner – on a fantastic days racing – will do today.

Interested to see you you`ve put up the enigmatic Biographer in the 1st,well he is imo, with the irrepressible Father Ted up – attraction of a big price?
Times Up is interesting with Soumillon on board, hopefully no more rain will arrive for him.Punters seem all over Estimate here though, might be difficult one to get beat, but you never know.
Off to meet the Lairy One soon for his opinion then on up to Ascot for the day. Best of Luck, and c`mon you Johnny Murtagh in the Champion Stakes, now that would be nice!!

Given
Biographer
one last chance Softie. Remember thinking with an action like his – should do better with plenty of give underfoot. Lanigan back in good form too. Certainly a bit of temperament in Biographer, but at that price there’s bound to be negatives.
I know the trainer ofTimes Up
is concerned, but rain could favour him. Best three performances have all come on a soft surface. OK may be not quite as soft as it will be today, but if he handles it… The more rain the more stamina comes in to play; the better for his chance. Hope I don’t end up wanting to sue Soumi.
High Jinx
is a similar type, but does not win often enough, so just a saver.
Estimate
has the best chance, I backed her ante-post for the Gold Cup. Is improving, but been off a long time. Form (imo) is nowhere near as far in front of the rest as the betting suggests. Should not be that short, although will probably shorten up even further with sentimental money on course.
Eye Of The Storm
is an improving 3 year old and with the weight concession meaning more on a soft surface – is a very worthy second favourite and could catch the eye.
Saddlers Rock
was running on in the Irish St Leger. Only just behind
Ahzeemah
, and look at the price difference! That his best performance for some time. Actually has THE best form in this race going back over a year. If that last time out run was an indication of better to come… A strongly run stamina test should suit. Although his very best is on different ground, has a markedly round action, so could prove suited. IMO Saddlers Rock should not go unbacked @ 40/1 on the machine!
Hope you and The Leary One have a good day at Ascot Softie!
Value Is EverythingOctober 19, 2013 at 20:50 #4555303 winners from bets in 4 races today. 1 main bet win and two savers. Shame the saver beat the main bet in the Champion Stakes. Also had the one/two in the QEII (both main bets). Got the pace wrong in the Long Distance Cup, Harris Tweed stacked them up, my main bet hold up, stamina horses had little chance. Chose the wrong one to be the saver in the Sprint.
Still, +136.35 points on the day, not bad.Just the two days at Newbury to go and that’s it for me on the Flat this season.
Value Is EverythingOctober 22, 2013 at 07:17 #455784Got to be pleased with that outcome Ginge, on a day such as that.
Harris Tweed with a soft lead seems to able to run above his entitlement, if that makes sense, but he seems to have been given plenty of soft leads lately.
Nice to see Brian Ellison`s, or indeed the owner`s decision to supplement Top Notch Tonto paid off too.
Couldn`t fault Farrh on the day, ran a cracking race and deserved the win imo.
As for Johnny Murtagh, well, what can you say, back his rides blind on a Saturday on this side of the water would be a plan if there was any of the season left that is!!

Yes Softie, I think Harris Tweed only just stays the trip. Given the soft lead he could prove better at 1 3/4 miles. Biographer ran well considering didn’t have the race run to suit, will have to give him yet another chance.
Great to see Farhh back on track, even if it was for this one run before stud duties. Winner the first to go for home. Doubt if Cirrus would’ve been able to get past had things panned out differently, but would’ve been close. Can’t get over how well Ruler Of The World ran though, looks one to do well next year with give underfoot.
Top Notch Tonto seems to be still improving for Brian Ellison and even Kingsbarns showed potential is still there.
Murtagh is certainly one of the best jockeys around Softie, although the backing him blind on a Saturday stat may be just coincidence. With all the top jockeys it would be a shock if backing one of them blind did not show a profit. It’s knowing which one before it happens.
Thinking about blowing my winnings at Fontwell tomorrow, it is the Newbury reciprocal isn’t it? Sounds as though the weather is likely to hold during racing. Are you going Softie?
