    Melbourne Cup
    25 points @ 16/1 (B365) Mount Athos* (min 11/1)

    Mount Athos has been put in races this season seemingly to keep his handicap mark down (and it worked). eg Sent for the Hardwicke instead of Ascot Gold Cup. Now off the same Aussie mark as last year when a somewhat "unlucky" 5th. Did well considering got further back than ideal in a moderately run Melbourne Cup. Doing best of those coming from a similar position. He’s better than that and showed it by giving 7 lbs and pushing Harris Tweed close (head) last time out at Goodwood (listed 1m6f). Giving the same to 3rd and 4th, 6 and 4.5 lengths back – Tac De Boistron (impressive winner of listed race) and Camborne (won Mallard handicap) since, though both improved on Goodwood.
