Que Pasa and Giant’s Quest look good sorts too and seem better value at current prices to me. Trouble is both of those probably need a fair test at this trip and far from certain to get it. Suspect Indevan will outpace them if pace is weak. Think if I was going to bet I’d wait until they’re in running. If it looks a slowish pace Indevan is the probable bet with saver on The Black Russian and if it looks a strong pace Que Pasa and Giant’s Quest look the way to go (all price allowing of course).
But that’s as I say Ben, IF I got involved, which I won’t. Good luck with Indevan, I’ll be cheering him on for you.
Didn’t watch the race but it sounds like you were right! Indevan seems to be one for the future but I guess time will tell.
Interesting bets for today, think I’m going to avoid the Lark/Seal of Approval race, wanted to back Maureen as well but there’s something about Hughes recently that’s putting me off, he’s lost on too many favourites in good races in the last couple of months for me to trust him at the moment.
I really like Clon Brulee (15/2) in the 5.00 Doncaster, think he’ll like the track, the give in the ground and a field smaller than that he has faced in his last 2 outings, only decision I can’t make is whether to back him to win or e/w but the fact that it’s top 3 for 10 runners is tempting me in.

Might be wise to avoid The Lark’s race Ben. Awful standard for a Group 2 and the females are always difficult.
Wouldn’t blame Hughesie too much. You’re right about losing on plenty of favs in the last couple of months, but I put that down to Hannon not being in such good form. Possibly a virus. Things seem to be getting better recently. Though it’s true the poor run could have been detrimental to the jockey’s confidence.

Judged by times the ground was a bit better than what Racing Post reported Good-firm (good places) Ben. So it brought stamina more in to play. Leader The Black Russian seemed to go off at a good clip too before steadying at around halfway. Slowing might have helped Indevan, but in fact had the opposite effect. Ruby couldn’t reduce speed easily and took a hold from that point until pace picked up again. Had no reply when Que Pasa came past on the run-in.
I’d say Indevan is better than the distances suggest Ben, may do better if settling/less of a test of stamina. However, doubt if he will improve significantly. Que Pasa may be the better horse anyway and the one to take out of the race. Giant’s Quest looked in need of further, just staying on.

Saw both the favs at Newbury, Barley Mow is good looking, but Be Ready is exceptional. Son of New Approach, in fact the spitting image of him. Produced a first time out standard of performance rarely seen that early in the season.
