Hope so Softie!
Amazing Maria hasn’t run on soft ground before, but not one of the 8 runners has. I was just so impressed with her at the Festival, 3/1 looks worth the risk.
More rain the better for Thistle Bird, Shamalgan and Educate.
At York:
Parbold was impressive on soft ground on debut and the greater test of stamina at the trip for him the better. Taken a bit of a risk with Astaire acting on it, but 13/2 was (imo) a rick by Paddy Power. Had to be taken.Value Is EverythingAugust 23, 2013 at 21:48 #4493353:30 Goodwood
44 points @ 4/1 (L) Thistle Bird* (min 7/2)15 points @ 12/1 (B365) Educate* (min 12/1)
20 points @ 17/1 (betfair) Shamalgan* (min 13/1)(£25 available)
You could wait for 20/1 as it is Pricewise, I won’t have much time in the morning, so can’t.

56 points @ 9/4 (C) Harris Tweed* (min 85/40)Might have a saver bet on Tac De Boistron if it rains hard (looks value) but has gone for a walk in the market, so holding off for now, unfit? First run for some time. Will see what he looks like in the paddock.
Value Is EverythingAugust 24, 2013 at 08:07 #449373Morning Ginge, well, soft okay at York but expected rain not arrived at Goodwood, and nothing significant now expected either. They are calling it good, good to firm in places according to BHA
August 24, 2013 at 09:03 #449376Thanks for that Softie, I’ve just laid half of my bets back on Harris Tweed and Shamalgan, Educate is now just a saver. Good ground would be ok, just don’t want it on the firm side. Ditto for Thistle Bird, though haven’t laid her, she’s a bit prickly! Have upped the stake on Premio Loco to make him a "main bet".
Managed to lay all off at same or shorter than backed them but probably won’t have time to change bets on this thread, so they will have to stand as they are.
See you at Goodwood Softie.
Value Is EverythingAugust 24, 2013 at 09:43 #449386Hello Ginge

August 24, 2013 at 10:01 #449390Hi Baynet,
Got off to a bad start this year, but had an outstanding Goodwood turned it around and it’s been good since. Got behind on the p/l, hope to get it done at some point.Value Is EverythingAugust 24, 2013 at 10:12 #449391Already backed:
3:30 Goodwood
44 points @ 4/1 (L) Thistle Bird* (min 7/2)
15 points @ 12/1 (B365) Educate* (min 12/1)
20 points @ 17/1 (betfair) Shamalgan* (min 13/1)(£25 available)You could wait for 20/1 as it is Pricewise, I won’t have much time in the morning, so can’t.
saver:
8 points @ 10/1 (betfair) Premio Loco (min 8/1) (£9 available)Now:
To get back my 15 original bet.
LAY 7 points @ 17.5/1 Shamalgan
To get back 7 of the 20 originally stakedAnother:
20 points @ 8/1 (B365) Premio Loco*Effectively reducing the Shamalgan bet, Educate now becomes a trade and Premio Loco becomes a main bet with Thistle Bird.
Value Is EverythingAugust 24, 2013 at 10:23 #4493924:20 Goodwood
56 points @ 9/4 (C) Harris Tweed* (min 85/40)Might have a saver bet on Tac De Boistron if it rains hard (looks value) but has gone for a walk in the market, so holding off for now, unfit? First run for some time. Will see what he looks like in the paddock.
I’ll let this bet run for thread purposes. But my advice would be to lay half of it off at current 2.1/1 and time the first few Goodwood races. If ANY come close (under 0.5 secs) to beating standard lay the rest of Harris Tweed back at under 9/4. If the times are ALL 2 seconds+ "slow", then back Harris Tweed again @ 2/1 or better to get back to the "56 points". If the best time is between 0.5 and 2 secs "slow", then just let the "half" bet run. Got it?
P.S.
Don’t go backing Tac De Wotsit.Value Is EverythingAugust 24, 2013 at 19:11 #449431Not got time to work out today’s profit now, but another excellent day’s work. 3 winners from bets in 4 races. Amazing Maria 3/1, Astaire 13/2 and Harris Tweed 9/4.
