    I am not sure that he would have won had he not dropped the whip.I have watched some horses recently where the jockey lost his whip in the final half furlongi.e.hundred yards and the horse in each case kept going under the urging of the jockey to win.It seems to me that when the horse has more to give he gives it, striving to win until the rider gives up.
