This afternoon (15.20) features of the biggest two mile handicaps of the year, the Gerard Bertrand Hurst Park Handicap Chase. Capeland – who was carried out last time at Ascot by Diego du Charmil – is the favourite. The following 10 will go:
– Capeland
– The Last Day
– Knocknanuss
– Diego du Charmil
– Speredek
– Caid du Lin
– Marracudja
– Vaniteux
– Ballywood
– Imperial PresensceI like Vaniteux here at 14/1. Three years ago he was grade 1 level, even upsides Douvan in the Arkle before falling. Won some nice races with a mark in the 150s, but in the last years he didn’t produce at all. Half a year ago they switched trainers from David Pipe to Sophie Leech. Since then he ran okay at Punchestown, won in France and was a good second 1-length-second behind Saint Calvados at Cheltenham. He seems to get a bit of his old form back and with this rating he should be at least a decent EW shot.
Vaniteux 14/1 EW
November 23, 2019 at 10:56 #1475596Good luck DBR.
I’ve just got a feeling that Diego will find more today, and I’ll go with him.
15-2 is a fair price for me, so I’ll stick with him.
Diego Du Charmil 15-2

November 23, 2019 at 13:47 #1475626With you Bobby with Vaniteux, I stuck him on the other day
at 14s (in Pat’s ante post thread). He’s still that price, but if he has retained
any of his old form he must have a squeak.November 23, 2019 at 15:27 #1475653That was sweet revenge for Capeland! Good to see he was certainly none the worse for last time.
November 23, 2019 at 16:57 #1475663Had Capeland last time, but Diego finished so well then I plumped for him….. I am a jinx
