Apparantly the only produce of George Washington was sold at Goffs yesterday for 280,000 euros to Gildawn Stud. I wonder if she will ever race or will go straight to the paddocks?
I thought Coolmore would have bought her but wasn’t at the sale so don’t know if they put bids in.

    Glidawn Stud purchased the filly.

If it were a colt, I would consider retiring unraced.

However, I don’t know if it’s a valuable enough pedigree to be preserved as such.

    Thoughts, anyone?

Thanks for the photo. I think she is a sweet looking filly and has a real look of her sire about her.

A little surprised she didn’t go for more. Obviously will depend on how she develops, but if they are going to keep her with the longer term view to sell the offspring, I would race her if she had a modicum of talent. Nothing to lose really.
Can I ask, I read somewhere that GW had six foals or was it six mares in foal? If she is the only offspring, do I understand it correctly that the other 5 aborted or the foals died shortly after birth?

    Lovely looking foal.

As the only surviving legacy of the enigmatic George you’d think she must have considerable value, I too would have expected her to make more.

He had 2 other foals born that died shortly after birth, and one mare that slipped her foal, that I know of.

Thanks for that – bad percentage return on what he did manage. Shame. For the mare owners too.

There’s a post on the Betfair forum suggesting she’s being pinhooked by her recent purchasers. Bonnie filly but she looks quite disproportionately ‘up-behind’ to me.

Isn’t that usually just a sign of physical immaturity?

Yes I too thought that if they were up behind it just meant that they still had growing to do and will eventually even out once they are fully developed.

I ws lucky too see her sire run a few times, he was mad and bad but by god could he shift. His Guieneas field wasnt egactly made up of selling platers…

    I think she is lovely.

Interesting observation. You’re argument is justified but let us wait for her to age a little more.

If I saw them in the flesh at a yearling sale … pass!

Looks aren’t everything – Attraction for one and the Urban Sea foal which went for a record at Tatts, I thought was horrible and she went on to win group races in the States. Give her some time. At this age I really don’t think you can what they will be like when they are older. Such a shame she is the only one.
