Nothing but Memories
October 8, 2009 at 20:34 #252486Horses played an important role in the life of George Washington.
It is believed that his favourite horse was a prize Arabian called MAGNOLIA.
No doubt something like George’s Girl or First Lady will be chosen.
Ayita and Galilahi are a couple more names I’d throw in there.

Martha Dandridge (GW’s wife – they never had any children of their own – perhaps Coolmore should have checked before naming him…)

October 10, 2009 at 14:45 #252730Just catching up with this story now. What a beautiful filly, looks a fantastic walker to my untrained eye. Really hope she makes it to the racecourse and excels on it. What a shame it didnt work out for he dad at stud
.They will HAVE to call her, Flawless Georgie.
October 11, 2009 at 19:42 #252851Sold for £320,000 gns. Not the top lot of the day. Loads of people were in the ring to see the sale. You could have a pin drop while the auction was going on which was in contrast to the rest of the sale.
It was a fascinating atmosphere… I got the impression that none of the big hitters bid for her though – the auctioneer seemed to be imploring the Coolmore team to put their hand up.
At least going to Richard Hannon we know she’ll see a racetrack – Tattersalls Million as a target? Does the new owner breed? I guess she might go through the ring again as a broodmare in the future.
