A quick thingy I just wrote up with some spare time on my hands. Pretty short, may do a couple more as we learn more about who’s going to which races.
As we draw nearer to the most enthralling and captivating horse racing festival on earth, or, as one online fan called it – “four days of watered down tripe” I can’t help myself but count down the days (20 on the dot in case you didn’t know).
The last week has sadly been overshadowed by the horses who occupied the 1-2 places in last years Champion Hurdle and unfortunately not for the right reasons, both scratches for Willie Mullins. But Irish fans fear not, he still has the favourite. For any other trainer this would seem remarkable, but for those that know what the juggernaut training machine is capable of, it’s just another day at the office.
Refreshing the racing post homepage more frequently than Aiden O’Brien would tell you to ‘listen’ isn’t the most healthy of habits, but it does momentarily put any nerves to rest with regard to who the next late-scratches are going to be. It’s that time of the jumps season: too late to get the fancy prices on the current market favourites but probably too early to lump on the big bets just yet. For that we will have to wait, but not for much longer.
