Seems a bit daft taking on Lulamba here, but as I’ve bet this pair for The Champion Chase, I’ve got to have an interest here, albeit I just hope they run well enough to go there in March

Libberty Hunter has to improve jumping, and Brookie has no right being in either race if in the same nick as he was at Ascot

Backed Saint Segal at 5/1 win. I think he has decent form, age on his side and maybe fewer questions to answer.

I’ve taken Meetmebythesea 14-1 ew. Looks a race for picking up the pieces behind the fav, and he appealed most at the prices

Surely Lulamba will win this, but I could not resist Libberty Hunter on this ground.

Lulamba is an extremely talented horse but just like Shishkin, is not a 2 miler in my opinion.

Watch Nicky wait until he’s 10yo before stepping him up.

He’s a future Gold Cup horse all day for me.

He’s just all class and engine. If the 2m4 was still a grade 1 he’d be in it.

Tbh quite a few of this years arkle horses dont look like 2 milers.

Shishkin won an Arkle and a Champion Chase. What else is a 2 miler supposed to do lol

He did win a Clarence house, but the other open G1s he won were the Ascot Chase and the Bowl at Aintree.

Why have ITV not mentioned the blood underneath Lulamba when being unsaddled? Hopefully only superficial but knowing Hendo’s luck.

Mike,he did not win a Champion Chase. Got run off his feet and pulled up.

He won an Arkle but could win that on class alone. He also won a Supreme but looked a 3 miler in that also.
He won the big race at Ascot vs Energumene but again, was run off his feet for most of that and it was only the extra furlong which enabled him to win.

He was a 3 miler through and through but was just so damn talented that he could also win at 2 mile.

    Nicky wasted the horse.

Nicos ride onboard in the Ryanair, is possibly the worst I’ve ever seen in a grade 1.

Shishkin should’ve went down as one of the greats.

“he did not win a Champion Chase. Got run off his feet and pulled up.”
He had a bone problem didn’t he? And didn’t race again that season. Not saying he wasn’t better over 2.5 than 2, but it wasn’t getting outpaced that made him PU.

    “Nicky wasted the horse.”

I dunno. He was unbeaten in 8 chase starts going into that QMCC and started at odds on as he had in all his other chase starts. When he was PU, they found the bone problem and gave him time off. When he ran badly (for him) on reappearance in the Tingle Creek they immediately moved him up to the Ascot chase, Ryanair, Bowl within one season. He didn’t hang around getting beaten repeatedly over 2 miles.
