Seems a bit daft taking on Lulamba here, but as I’ve bet this pair for The Champion Chase, I’ve got to have an interest here, albeit I just hope they run well enough to go there in March
Libberty Hunter has to improve jumping, and Brookie has no right being in either race if in the same nick as he was at Ascot
Brookie Non Runner
Libberty Hunter 11’sFebruary 6, 2026 at 21:43 #1753714Backed Saint Segal at 5/1 win. I think he has decent form, age on his side and maybe fewer questions to answer.
February 6, 2026 at 22:24 #1753716I’ve taken Meetmebythesea 14-1 ew. Looks a race for picking up the pieces behind the fav, and he appealed most at the prices
February 6, 2026 at 22:49 #1753724Lulamba
But also Saint SegalVf x
February 7, 2026 at 09:01 #1753744Surely Lulamba will win this, but I could not resist Libberty Hunter on this ground.
Libberty Hunter 10/1
February 7, 2026 at 14:21 #1753798bet365 and Paddy boosted Lulamba to 1/1
Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 7, 2026 at 14:37 #1753804I’m another playing for the places, and went with Calico 28-1 ew
February 7, 2026 at 14:56 #1753810Lulamba is an extremely talented horse but just like Shishkin, is not a 2 miler in my opinion.
Watch Nicky wait until he’s 10yo before stepping him up.
He’s a future Gold Cup horse all day for me.
February 7, 2026 at 15:02 #1753812He’s just all class and engine. If the 2m4 was still a grade 1 he’d be in it.
Tbh quite a few of this years arkle horses dont look like 2 milers.
February 7, 2026 at 15:03 #1753814“but just like Shishkin, is not a 2 miler in my opinion.”
Shishkin won an Arkle and a Champion Chase. What else is a 2 miler supposed to do lol
Edit: me bad he didnt win a CC did he.
February 7, 2026 at 15:08 #1753815No he didn’t Mike… I had him at 33’s in an Arkle/CC double
it rained all day and I even got accused of pick pocketing
bad day, that oneGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 7, 2026 at 15:08 #1753816He did win a Clarence house, but the other open G1s he won were the Ascot Chase and the Bowl at Aintree.
February 7, 2026 at 15:14 #1753818Yeh Nathan i corrected myself whilst you were posting :o)
February 7, 2026 at 15:14 #1753819Why have ITV not mentioned the blood underneath Lulamba when being unsaddled? Hopefully only superficial but knowing Hendo’s luck.
February 7, 2026 at 15:18 #1753820Mike,he did not win a Champion Chase. Got run off his feet and pulled up.
He won an Arkle but could win that on class alone. He also won a Supreme but looked a 3 miler in that also.
He won the big race at Ascot vs Energumene but again, was run off his feet for most of that and it was only the extra furlong which enabled him to win.He was a 3 miler through and through but was just so damn talented that he could also win at 2 mile.
Nicky wasted the horse.
Nicos ride onboard in the Ryanair, is possibly the worst I’ve ever seen in a grade 1.
Shishkin should’ve went down as one of the greats.
February 7, 2026 at 15:20 #1753822Yeh GM23 i corrected myself in my post
February 7, 2026 at 15:34 #1753827“he did not win a Champion Chase. Got run off his feet and pulled up.”
He had a bone problem didn’t he? And didn’t race again that season. Not saying he wasn’t better over 2.5 than 2, but it wasn’t getting outpaced that made him PU.“Nicky wasted the horse.”
I dunno. He was unbeaten in 8 chase starts going into that QMCC and started at odds on as he had in all his other chase starts. When he was PU, they found the bone problem and gave him time off. When he ran badly (for him) on reappearance in the Tingle Creek they immediately moved him up to the Ascot chase, Ryanair, Bowl within one season. He didn’t hang around getting beaten repeatedly over 2 miles.
