Have noticed in the past when the rain is actually falling, front runners tend to do well.
Is this just me, or has anyone else noticed this?
May be due to jockeys believing the going is softer than it really is.
Not talking about soft going, just when rain is falling whatever the going.

Value Is EverythingJuly 9, 2008 at 14:13 #172519Usually front running winners IMO are either a sign of slow pace or good-firm ground or both. Todays ground doesnt look gd-fm so I’ll go with a slow pace, especially as Tawash ran well from a prominent position too.
July 10, 2008 at 00:13 #172594I’ve thought about this before and have my own messed up theory! Here goes….
I’d expect all trainers know how their horses react when the rain is falling, i.e, if they work well, very well or rubbish (i know i used to love running through puddles). Of course theirs other factors to consider but i guess if a jockey knows what conditions his quirky mount excels in (apart from the going) he should be able to use it to his advantage by stealing the march!
Nah…i think yours makes better sense now
