    Hi People:

Looks as if Arapahoe Park will be on at the races this Friday. So, I thought I would offer up my picks. Post time for race 1 is 8pm in the UK and we have ten races.

Right now ARP is enjoying a great meet. Field sizes are the highest in the country and the quality of racing is improving for all three breeds, Thoroughbreds, Arabians and Quarter Horses.

    Race 1: 1-3-2
#1 was 2nd on its career debut here last time out under similar conditions and the #3 was fifth in the same race and may possibly be up for turning the form around after a good workout here on July 1st. #2 makes its career debut but the owner says the horse is better than its workouts suggest.

    Race 2: 2-1-3
Leading jock, Russell Vichrilli is on board the #2 who has not hit the frame in four starts but has indicated todays trip will be more to its liking. #1 will need to be covered up early and there are question marks regarding stamina. Not so for the #3 but was beaten by the #1 last time out.

    Race 3: 9-10-4
#9 should find the shorter distance more to its liking. A new jockey on the #10, but this is the last chance I am giving to thsi horse before considering it one that has not trained on into the summer. #4 goes back to a preferred distance today.

    Race 4: 6-2-3-10
#6 makes its career debut but had a great recent workout. #2 makes it 2010 debut but jockey Rosendo Herrera should give it a good ride. #3 steps back down to 330 yards and it should suit, the same can be said for the #10.

    Race 5: 1-7-6
#1 won its first race for nearly 2 years last time out and before that was 4th to the #3 in this race. #7 became a course and distance winner here last time out and the choice of jockey, Brian Theriot is interesting as he has just arrived here from Sunray Park. #6 may be worth a punt if it is an overlay.

    Race 6: 6-7
Twelve go to post but this is the ice cold exacta race of the day. #6 has probably needed its first 2 races of 2010 after a hiatius in 2009. This four year old may find 4f and 5f races on the sharpside these days but 5 and a half should be fine. Combine it with the #7 who was 2nd in its last two starts. Slight question over jockey choice of Travis Wales who gave it an inauspicious ride last year.

    Race 7: 10-4-5
Not many are winning from the 10 hole but the #10 here takes a big step down in class having hit the board many times over the spring. Again the question mark of a new jockey looms large but this horse will take the beating. #4 was outclassed in stakes race company last time but Polly Robson tends to be an "all or nothing" jockey. The #5 has the potential to show improvement and is a good show wager.

    Race 8: 6-4-8.
#6 came back to form and admisinstered a good beating tothe #8 last time out. Was nearly 10-1 on that occasion and the 6/1 Ml appears to be good value. The ML favorite, #4 will enjoy the step back to 5 and a half furlongs today and it is good to see jockey Floyd Campbell back in the saddle but I see no value at 5/2.

Race 9: 9-10-2 CRAIGS LONGSHOT OF THE DAY: #6.
It’s time for the #9 to step back into the winners circle after 2 2nd place finishes. Going from 7f back to 5 and a half furlongs will only encourage the beast. #10 steps back from a 3rd place in Stakes company but has a new jockey and an unfavorable post position. #2 may contend but this is a horse to write off as not training on if it doesn’t perform. #6 beat the #10 in allowance company last time out and is an amazing 8/1 on the ML.

Race 10: Another ice cold exacta to round off the day!
#1 was 2nd in similar class last time out but previously showed a penchant for 7f and there is no reason to think this horse will not last one mile. The veteran #1 (11 yrs) hasn’t won in nearly a year but is reunited with Brian Theriot, a good jockey.

    AND REMEMBER, PEOPLE…

    1. UNLIKE OTHER RACECALLERS, I DON’T MAKE YOU CALL A PREMIUM RATE PHONELINE FOR MY CRAP TIPS AND…

    2. TELL ARAPAHOE PARK TO EMPLOY A RACECALLER WITH AN AMERICAN ACCENT ;)

    Good stuff, Craig.

Silver Pockets – the #3 in race 2 – had been off for 9 months before last time and I reckon he has a good chance of reversing the form and winning.

DNA of A Cat – the #2 in race 5 – is off 4 months before this but looks to have the form to make him worth a punt off a ML of 6/1.

I wonder if #2 Caper’s Edge may spoil your Exacta in race 6.

    We shall see!

I agree with your comments on race 10, btw, though it is the #2 horse which is the veteran.

The Ice Cold Exacta in the 10th should be 1-2!!!

TO answer Cormack’s question, it is indeed on ATR!
