Does anyone have any info on the effect of the draw at Chantilly ?
I notice that the Freddy Head favourite is drawn on the wide outside.
As most French races seem to be run at a crawl initially, this could cause her to be hung out wide behind a bunch.
Any thoughts on whether she should be jumped out and try and get across ?June 13, 2015 at 22:42 #1104511No such worries from French Racing expert Liz Price ooh la la
The Prix de Diane Longines is incredibly open this year and I wouldn’t be surprised if an unexposed filly like Mojo Risin would win it, but I’m still going with the proven QUEEN’S JEWEL.
I backed Queen’s Jewel when she went out to 9/4 as I think her ability outshines the others and her class will prevail.
Playing jockeys if I was Guyon I would personally drop her out and get cover and let her creep into the race.Gaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
June 14, 2015 at 11:09 #1104726Queens Jewel looks pretty smart and there isn’t much in the field that screams out to me apart from Malabar.
I think I’ll have a wager at around 12-14/1 as she has been running on well in group 1 races over a mile and this could be a good way to introduce her to the extended 10f.
Drawn 14, so Hughsie will have his work cut out to get a good position.
Good Luck!June 14, 2015 at 11:30 #1104743The wide draw is a hindrance, so I wouldn’t be confident of any outsiders having a good chance, but its a different scenario when you have the favourite out there.
I don’t know the differences between this course and Longchamp, but Ervedya won the 1000 guineas from a very wide draw with a lovely ride, but probably would have won by 3 or more lengths if drawn better. As for tactics, getting to the front quickly from that draw is risky as she will need to be pushed hard and fast to get there which may not leave much in the engine for the latter stages.
