Look forward to your CB comments.
I still don’t see how anyone, even as blinkered as Godolphin, can think that anyone could improve on Fabre in preparing a horse for big races. (enough smilies? )
May 9, 2010 at 14:30 #294926I’m just trying to get the quotes for CB Kop…
Re: ‘Re’ what I was trying to say is ‘if’ anyone likes him then maybe take advantage of the price drift…he was 19 now out past 33 – an over reaction to his ability?
The one pos that you can take is that he looks to be going the route suggested by Mordin in his piece GPdP – that’s good no?I don’t doubt that moving was wrong esp when the races are at home so to speak…a change in routine might help bring out more improvement?!
(said very toungue in cheek)
If the new guy is going to show his worth he’s gonna need the ammo…that might have been part of the thinking?Trying to see a positive in all this when others are seeing something different & forgetting form!
One thing for sure – stuff being a trainer – what with all the pressure and scrutiny AOB & Godolphin are going through!
May 9, 2010 at 14:52 #294930Re: Bannay 2nd in Madrid recently…
http://www.zeturf.com/en/resultats/1655 … o-El-Mundo
The horse that beat him ‘Cabo Canaveral’
He was once 2nd 1/2 to ‘Faramir’ (Bananby was behind his stablemate ‘F’) 1 1/4 at Sans Seb with ‘Young Tiger’ winning…
‘Faramir’ was bt 2l by ‘Pointilliste’…
This ‘Young Tiger’ has only been unplaced twice from 18 starts and has a victory over ‘Blek’ to his name!
He bt both ‘Bannaby’ & ‘Kasbah’ by – nk’s
All pretty closely matched on this years form but all priced wide apart…
May 9, 2010 at 16:10 #294955Re: ‘Cutlass’ – there seems to be a lack of planning for this colt and forgetting the move of trainer – I’m not sure that a campaign over here is best for him (his next race entries are in the UK) for these reasons…
Some judges have doubts as to whether he’ll actually get 1m4f?!
After his last race the comments made by Guyon would suggest that this has been discussed:
"I
After the way that he hung in the closing stages you’d have to wonder if Epsom (on fast going over the trip for the first time) would suit him?
Who knows where he’ll end up coming around the bend there if he hangs in the same manner – the Epsom High Street pinching polos is a possibility! As for this statement:
Diana Cooper, representing Godolphin SNC, said: "He won very well and we’ll see how he comes out of the race before making a decisions, he’s got plenty of options.I can’t believe that one option (should he not stay) has been excluded at the first entry stage – that’s having no entry for the Irish Champion Stakes – Cav Man has!
What price would he be in the market for that right now? (Yes he could be supplemented)
This is part of what made me wonder about his plans and timing of move…My major doubt about him coming here is the ground – as I can recall Fabre saying last year after his win in the Greffulhe – that plans for him would be based on going.
Ie – that he would miss the GPdP due to fast ground and thus be saved for an Autumn campaign.Post race comments by Frankie back this up…
Dettori eyes French Derby after Cutlass wins
BY DESMOND STONEHAM 12 MAY 2009
GOING: HEAVYSaint-Cloud: Prix Greffulhe (Group 2) 1m2f, 3yo colts & fillies
Fabre:
The trainer, winning only his second Group race of the season,
Dettori was full of enthusiasm for Cutlass Bay, who scored by half a length over his stable companion in holding ground, with Allybar running on to take third place in front of the well-backed Topclass.
"He’s a nice horse but still very green," said Dettori.
The report says ‘holding’ the time says different…On Sunday Forum on ATR today – they said that we shouldn’t be shocked by the transfer…the report says the same I guess?!
Yet it is shocking when you consider that ‘Cav Man’ was left with Fabre to prepare for the Arc.
The difference being this year is the ‘new trainer’ joining the ranks back at HQ – I commented on him earlier needing ammo!
(Yeah I know that he doesn’t now train CB) – but he has the 3yr olds…that might normally have been left? All just thoughts…I hope that he’s the ‘real deal’ and wish them the best…
though I doubt that I’ll be backing him with these doubts plus the fact that the media want one to hype to the hilt now!May 10, 2010 at 18:31 #295135I am pulling a "Zenjah":
Guiche Behkabad resumed his success
Third Prize Open II for his return after more than six months away, Behkabad has found the way to the victory he had not left for two years at the Prix de Guiche, who should lead the Jockey Club, as two runners of the day, No Risk At All and Tip Toe.
May 10, 2010 at 18:34 #295137If Cutlass Bay really doesn’t stay the 12f, then I can see the merits of him being based in England where there are more G1 10f races than France.
But still, it is hard to not see the negative in taking a well-performing horse away from a top-class trainer.
May 10, 2010 at 21:17 #295181Could there be a further twist to this plot?!
I was interested to note the winner of the earlier race – it’s been won by the likes of :
Loup Breton in 2007 – Rail Link had finished second in 2006 before winning the Grand Prix Paris and the Arc de Triomphe!
Now I’m not for one moment saying…
Also it kinda franked the form of ‘Mubtas’ with ‘Tiananmen running well…Air Trooper opens his record
It was still unpublished
Very good winner of the Prix du Mont Pagnotta, May 10, 2010 in Chantilly, Air Trooper opened his record by a great victory. Until then still unpublished, the foal of Andre Fabre has started brilliantly. Air Trooper involved in the Jockey Club, will surely follow in its future performance.‘Bhecki’ & ‘Nah Risk’ run up to form if you take where ‘tippy’ finished off…the latter was a tad unlucky gave ‘Bhecks’ a good start.
Behkabad opens its 2010 awards
– (No good for the Okey Cokey)
In Chantilly
By winning the Prix de Guiche, May 10, 2010, Behkabad opened his record in 2010 with a victory. The colt was beaten for his return, but was undefeated in 2009 (3 races, 3 wins). His jockey Christophe-Patrice Lemaire, speaking on microphone Equidia: "It was very relaxed. He was placed on the bit at the beginning, and I slid. It was very relaxed and responded well.
Of the other horse – it’s good to see ‘Souy’ still has his humor!Soumillon: No Risk At All to the Jockey Club?
Second price Quiche
Christophe Soumillon returned to the performance of No Risk At All in the Prix de Guiche, the Group III of the May 10, 2010 in Chantilly. The horse finished a close second after a superb straight line, while Christophe Soumillon without seeking the whip (which he lost mid-line). The jockey told the mic Equidia:
Thanks for your thoughts/reply on ‘Cutlass’ Ole…he’s going to be short wherever he turns up…one for Fav Backers Inc?!I see that a thread popped up today on a gambling forum re: a French colt…the author claiming/stating that it had/might have somehow gone under the radar?!

Ist
Forfait tomoz for the Hens & Roosters, Hocquart (this will be informative) & the 5F Saint Georges G3
Added: After the first stage…
20 for Roosters
16 For Hens
8 For Hocquart! – No ‘Plantr’The speedball test mght see the ‘Witch’ return!
Looks like the rumor of ‘Eightfold’ being retired is true..
We’ll have to look elsewhere for a way to Nirvana!May 11, 2010 at 09:04 #295241Behkabad faster than Lawman!
He beat the record price Quiche
The winner of the Prix de Guiche 2007 was called Lawman, who then seized in the wake of the Jockey Club. Lawman won the Prix de Guiche, 1’52’50, is the record signing of Group III. Record has however lost Behkabad, May 10, 2010 in Chantilly, completing the course in 1’51. A good sign for the defending foal colors Aga Khan, who should make the Jockey Club’s next target.
Should be a good race on the 6th of June as most of the principles have been kept apart…
plus we’ll have the "leftovers" from the "Roosters Race"…and NM reckons that ‘Siyouni’ will find this trip to be right up his street!May 11, 2010 at 10:53 #295257Anyone care to tell me what Dominique Boeuf was playing at on Bottega? Didn’t seem overly keen on putting the horse in the race.
May 11, 2010 at 17:53 #295307Interesting that Planteur was pulled out…maybe Lellouche just wants him rested?
Jockey Club looks to have a really good lineup (better than Epsom – [gasp] blasphemy!). No Risk At All has a really excellent turn of foot. A real underdog from a breeding perspective, just like Vision d’Etat. Superb.
Zenjah, who is the "NM" that thinks Siyouni will get the Jockey Club? Because I remember reading ARD saying that he thinks a mile is his limit, and they won’t try him over further.
May 11, 2010 at 22:16 #295347There was a positive mention for ‘Plantr’ on the RP web site tonight…
JC (not Johnny Cash) – is looking good! I said the same, whilst in conversation earlier today!
Strange how things are going either side right now – the bookies must be loving the lack of clarity…normally the lines are drawn!‘No Risk’ gives it a go…form is not bad if one link is taken literal…then looks terrible form a different view!
Sorry for shortening everything! It was Nick Mordin that I was on about – it can get confusing all dis txt typ!
NM reckons that ‘Siyouni’ will get the trip…
others think that due to the JC being brought back in distance that it can suit ‘milers’ more than the pure ‘stayers’ that can run in it.
If there is a big field and they get a good draw then – it’s thought that the milers can pinch it! – by getting first run.I.e. why some think that ‘Famous Name’ (17) was unlucky not to win
Vision (4)
That day ‘Montmartre’ was in (12) – ‘Magadan’ in (14) – (stayers that should’ve stayed home after the draw!)I use the term ‘Miler’ real loose!
It’s also why Detori was so good on ‘Shamardal’ from (13) – he rides the track well!
May 12, 2010 at 09:55 #295377What you guys know about a french horse called.
Simon De Montfort. And could he be a Epsom derby horse. reason i am asking is Tom Segal put this horse up in colunm today.May 12, 2010 at 14:26 #295409Hi, could you tell me the dates of any French 1400m G1s in early Summer?
I’m slightly interested in Finjaan (at the price) for the July Cup, and am wondering what alternatives there are for him.
May 12, 2010 at 14:54 #295416There aren’t any Gerald – only 7f Group 1 in France is the Foret on Arc weekend. There’s the 6.5f Maurice De Gheest at Deauville but that’s in August.
May 12, 2010 at 14:58 #295418Tregoning mentioned the Hungerford and Lennox for Finjaan, but that seems to indicate a distinct lack of ambition. Entered in Queen Anne and July Cup. Nevermind, I’m all aussied up for the July Cup – Denman AND Eagle Falls.
May 12, 2010 at 17:46 #295434The only 1400s in France before the Maurice de Gheest in August are Group 3s: the Palais Royal in late May and the Porte Maillot in June (excluding already-run Guineas trials, of course).
