Whilst i’m picking brains, why does Black Caviar carry more weight than males in Group 1’s in Convictland?

Black Caviar’s win in the Goodwood at Morphetteville – which was classed as a Group 1 in Australia – was a handicap.
May 27, 2012 at 07:29 #405610The WFA scale does exist for longer distances in the early part of a 4yo career. 4yo receive 2lbs from their elders in the Ascot Gold Cup. The WFA scale has been altered a few times over the years but the implication is that thoroughbreds reach full maturity sometime during their 4yo career. Over 12f 4yo receive weight from their elders until May.

It seems a little odd that supposedly the best Australian sprinter of all time was conceding only 3lb to the runner up, who was a once winning 6yo Gelding who took 6 races to lose his maiden tag.
Eclipse – Thanks for the link.
May 27, 2012 at 09:36 #405625I actually had a dream last night that Frankel was beaten. By a filly.
But not THAT filly. This one was trained by Aidan O’Brien but, as is the way with dreams, the dream fizzled out before I found out the name of the horse.
May 27, 2012 at 16:57 #405709The Goodwood "handicap" in Adelaide is a "set weights with penalties" race that has a maximum top weight. It is not a "true" handicap type race.
