Fox hunting is an evil, vicious, barbaric activity (laughably referred to as a sport by some) that should have been left behind in the Middle Ages. It has absolutely no place whatsoever in civilised society. Simple as that.

I would add that I am from the rural Westcountry before anyone thinks I’m some sort of out of touch city type.

If this topic was started today vegetarianism would be veganism. Where Milk and eggs are also banned. Fox hunting in my view is cruel but nature can be cruel too and some would argue that predators like Foxes need to be curtailed.

You've got to accentuate the positive.
    Eliminate the negative.
    Latch on to the affirmative.
Don't mess with mister in between.

Well said, Rummy. We can always rely on you to keep things plain and simple.

This looks to be the thread for any Foxhunting-related posts.

Posted this on the main board but is well worth posting again here. Great to see the gathering of the huntsmen and the foot followers of all ages, plus the Terrier Man on his quad. The gorgeous horses and hounds and the traditions. You get a real feel for the flavour of it all. Beautiful.

Please note that no foxes were harmed in the posting of this video

If you want the ban repealed, talk to your MP if they are a Tory. They have an 80 seat majority, should be easy for them to sort it.

More chance of knitting fog than the ban being reversed. Thankfully.

TTC, you are very probably right. Have you read the article, though?

It explains what some of us have always known- Foxes are worse off since the ban.

If foxes could vote they would vote for repeal

I haven’t. I will read it with an open mind as I can (!) after the Rugby, but I’d be surprised if it was an unbiased piece.

Foxes don’t know the effect of the ban, but to say they were better off before does not alter the fact that hunting is a cruel and unnecessary activity.

Indeed Purwell. TTC – Negus is features writer for the “”Shooting Times”, hardly a impartial source. The Critic’s editor was ERG strategist and Chief of Staff for the DUP so hardly likely to prioritise facts or science either. Fluctuations in animal populations are almost always due to a complex series of circumstances. The same study cited by Negus also reports a 64% drop in rabbit numbers over the same period. The loss of the fox’s usual prey is likely to have an impact, and, of course, they may both be declining for the same reason – such as loss of habitat.

It should be remembered that this was not an act to ban “fox-hunting” but a ban on “hunting with dogs” and so, when occasionally enforced, protects a number of species from this barbaric pastime. It should also, theoretically, prevent “collateral damage” such as out of control hounds eviscerating domestic pets in front of distraught owners, worrying livestock, running riot through animal sanctuaries and causing travel chaos by getting onto railway lines and major roads. The fact that such incidents remain common, and the perpetrators rarely face the same penalties as an individual dog owner would if they permitted their pet to behave in such a dangerous manner, is indicative of the “one rule for them” mentality that has become so pervasive in this country (especially England) and now threatens far more than foxes.

Pictorially I cannot disagree with him.

Tank appears to like country pursuits.
