Val O’Connell (clerk of the course) told me he found two fifties but I don’t know if he was telling me the truth or not!. the ground was in beautiful order but was drying and they watered it well last night. Straight Answer is a group horse in waiting and won’t be going off 2/1 again until racing in group company.

Le Nouveau ran beautifully in third to two top bumper runners and both of them Merlin Giant and Levelneverending have won even more impressively since.
There does not appear to be anything of that Calibre in opposition here and Le Nouveau a half brother to the new one looks a very smart sort.

This is his best trip and he is just 1lb higher than only win at Chelmsford.
He may have to wait and go under that mark but plenty of signs that improvement around the corner.
Also his head to head is with Hellavaboy who is a non runner. Those two are weighted together and Hellevaboys absence will aid Romulan Prince who is also in a head to head with Newcastle scorer Hunter’s Step and when they met he had supremacy.
The alternatives are party rebel on a career low and velocity who steps up in trip after winning over 7f last time Saffie Osbourne rides for her Father Jamie who is a shrewd placer of his horses.

Most people cannot get on with Mark Johnston.
But pound for pound he is the best trainer around. ( Imo)
I know if he is travelling to an all weather track he will make every effort to land a race. I missed his earlier winner at 7pm but was happy to highlight his chances in the last and Party rebel duly obliged at 40/1. That sits nicely with the 66 into 33//1 at Chelmsford last week first time out for Mark Usher. I was chuckling when I read some comments on another forum to the tune of
” no one could have got that one”.

Following up a 40/1 winner is never easy.
Fiach McHugh was very prominent in defeat to straight Answer on debut. Straight Answer bolted up in emphatic fashion yesterday and looks to be a star in waiting.
Fiach McHugh has slipped under the radar today at Listowel in the shadow of Aidan O’Briens runner and one from Ger Lyons.
The Slatterys may have another decent horse on their hands here.
