I want to keep a personal record of everything I place a bet on in the racing world. I feel this is my best option as it is open and may just give me extra incentive to not be a mug at times, although that is inevitable in any situation. I don’t expect perfection but I do expect more profitable months than losing ones.
The 1st of September is as suitable a time as any so without further ado:Thirsk 405 Class 3 6f handicap 3 places 1/4 odds
Red Pike 7/2 £55 e/w
Usually runs with some credit at Ripon and did so again when 2nd in the consolation race for the Great St. Wilfried. He has finished behind the likes of Muntadab and Classic Seniority this year but I feel conditions will suit him better at this track (I’m hoping good to firm in places, scattered showers were around earlier this evening that might bring it back to good). Red Pike won his maiden here back in 2014 and hasn’t been seen at the track since so I hope that brings about a reversal in fortune as he hasn’t tasted victory since 2015. The handicapper has been a bit harsh but Adam McNamara takes over again with 3lbs being taken off and I feel he should run a big race. The rest of the field have plenty to prove at this level in my opinion but I will keep an eye out on a match bet between El Hombre (around 6/1) and Full Intention (11/1) as I feel the latter has a good chance of reversing recent form on better terms.Any voices and opinions are welcome, I wouldn’t begrudge anyone tipping up a winner from the selected race(s). Its all a part of the game. Happy Hunting!
September 1, 2017 at 01:37 #1316354Good luck with the thread Chivers, and good luck tomorrow.
I’m very interested in this race as I really like Classic Seniority, and Mujassam for the consolation races at Ayr this month.

September 1, 2017 at 16:03 #1316389Best of luck Chivers.
I think you’ll be unlucky if your selection doesn’t get in the top 3
Skybet are going 4 places on this race and Red Pike is now 9/2 so would be rude not to follow you inGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
September 1, 2017 at 16:32 #1316392A good solid start and money in the bank, good luck with the thread
September 1, 2017 at 16:49 #1316393Decent effort there, maybe wanted a bit of sting taken out of the ground contrary to what I was saying. Stick to a class 3 handicap with him and the handicapper may relent a bit. 5/1 was a fair price to come in at.
£111 – £124.88 = £13.88 profit (£55.50 e/w, not £55)
Thanks for the support everyone.
September 1, 2017 at 16:56 #1316397Good start Chivers
Will watch this thread with interest.September 3, 2017 at 10:09 #1316529I had a pretty bad case of gamblers regret yesterday when Aljazzi flew home at Sandown and was left with an unsuccessful punt on the football.
Never mind, the show must go on.Chantilly 425
Group 3 7f 3 places 1/5
African Ride 9/2 £100 e/wJallota heads the market at 11/8 right now and has been consistent this year. He won this race last year and holds every chance but that is a very short price to play with in this contest.
African Ride finished 3/4 of a length behind Inns Of Court last time out over 7f on soft ground and that one ran a huge race when a short head behind Al Wukair in the Jacques Le Marois last month. There are conflicting reports on ground at the moment but it was soft yesterday with no more rain about so it should still be soft in places. The only reservations I have are the 64 day gap in between races (is that just for a healthy break after an early start to the season or was there an issue?) and he was well beaten in the group 1 Poulains earlier this year. That said, he ran well for most of the way and folded late on so sticking to this trip looks the right way to go.Dangers for me have to be Jallota, who always brings his A-game when racing abroad and Karar who has been gelded which could bring about improvement for another consistent type. Dame Du Roi is interesting based on her effort in the Prix Rothschild but will find this tougher pitched in with the boys. Royal Julius is improving but needs to take another big step and I would be surprised if the rest were to make a big impact on this race.
September 4, 2017 at 06:56 #1316580Went a bit too hard on that one considering the likely danger of Karar and the unexplained absence.

Ripon 340 – Stanghow 25 e/w 13/2
Looks suited to this trip more than 6f, fairly consistent this year and ran well for 3rd in this last year. Has to reverse form with Excessable but has 8lbs in hand on the last time they met. Thought he was worth a shout at the price.
Edit: Aleef has been steamed in this morning. Thought it might be a bit quick for him but the market hath speaketh
