3 more jocks banned today (so far )….is there no end to this shame and disgrace that slurs our sport each day that passes
When does Paul Bittar start ????
This daily carnage of injustice shames all those in the corridors of power in racing , its just a very sad and unjust time for jockeys , trying to earn a living and doing their best to win
a disgrace IMO

November 30, 2011 at 19:24 #380358Four jocks banned today (3 jumps, 1 flat)
November 30, 2011 at 19:36 #380359Gutted for Wilson Renwick. Gave Apache Blue a superb swashbuckling ride, right throughout the last lap at Catterick this afternon. Another jock banned whilst trying for his life, and 1.01 the horse is fine.
The phone hackers will be pleased.
November 30, 2011 at 19:48 #380364Cav , are we missing something here , cant every racing fan see that these jocks are in danger of being wiped out , trying to win , trying to do their job !!!
Yawn indeed , and you write for a racing daily …..you should be ashamed sir !!!
Shame on all concerned , this is just plain wrong

November 30, 2011 at 19:51 #380365While I am not sure how things will pan out, it is more noticeable that the bans have not made the headlines on either the racing post website or sportinglife.com
Are the media wrong or are some people on here agitators?
November 30, 2011 at 20:09 #380372Eclipse , can anyone take the racing media seriously ??? apart .. from Greg Wood /Matt Chapman / Sean Boyce who will at least defend the jockeys from this outrage
You have a good point there , it’s not agitators to be concerned with , its the apathy towards a group of jockeys who currently are struggling to make a living
cheers

November 30, 2011 at 20:11 #380373When Ruby, AP, Christophe or Hughsie get their next ban the media will become interested again. The aforementioned had plenty to say when it effected them, now their quiet. All for one and one for…?
That doesn’t make it OK though.

Not funny at all Ricky.
I am yawning at yet another thread created about exactly the same subject. If you want to make the point (yet again) Ricky that’s fine. But why not put it in one of the other hundred threads about the whip?
Value Is EverythingNovember 30, 2011 at 21:00 #380381Ricky – "can anyone take the racing media seriously ?" – apparently only if they write columns that agree with your viewpoint.
Similar over the top reaction occurred when they changed the rules of football. After a number of sendings off and fines then surprise, surprise the pros managed to adapt. Remember they were only trying to win also.
The same will occur in horse racing but would have done so far more quickly if the horse was also disqualified for a jockeys errant behaviour.
I also agree with Ginge that this forum is now littered with threads rehashing the same tired old theme .November 30, 2011 at 22:13 #380397Ricky, while I appreciate that quite possibly there will be many lesser jockeys who are struggling to make a living, it is true that before the changes to the rules they were many lesser jockeys struggling to make a living. I think you agree that there is too much racing, too many horses in training etc, so therefore it follows that there are too many jockeys plying their trade. If racing ever sorts itself out and can produce a sustainable product for its consumers then there will have to be some casualties along the way.
Whatever sympathy I may have for the jockeys is tempered by the knowledge of their attitude to the world outside the weighing room. They claimed not to have been consulted during the review but I am far more inclined to believe that they actually brought nothing to the table. Their "Union" is built upon 200+ years of tradition where the senior jockeys hold sway, the code of conduct is based on imparting as little information to outsiders as possible. When the ban on phones in weighing room was introduced it caused far more consternation among the brethren (they are also a largely sexist, racist and sizist group) than the current inconvenience.December 1, 2011 at 18:51 #380542Eclipse , damn good post , am still smiling …nice to have someone look at things from outer space perspective
Not great though for the poor sods getting huge bannage
Sail on Silvergirl …sail on bye……….
