Hi guys, has anybody been to Fontainebleau Hippodrome before. Im looking for directions from central Paris either by road or the nearest train station to the race track. Am i right in thinking this is the same Fontainebleau that is south of Paris.
Thank you
ArkleFebruary 23, 2010 at 15:04 #278581That’s the one – http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=fontain … =en&tab=wl right in the middle of the forest on the above map
February 23, 2010 at 15:18 #278584Too late – racing is nearly over for the day.
February 23, 2010 at 15:27 #278586According to Wikitravel it’s 15,60 Euro’s from Gare-St-Lyon to Fontainebleau Avon Station (also able to use the ticket on any Paris metro train that day).
If you’re doing it all via Eurostar take the blue line from Gare-Du-Nord and change at Chatalet-Les-Halles, then take the red line to Garde-De-Lyon – it shouldn’t take much longer than 15 minutes

Will need to get a taxi from Fontainebleau to the racecourse though.

Thank you very much for the information. I take it that it will be easier to travel by train instead of the car because of the Paris traffic.February 23, 2010 at 17:24 #278610I’d say so – don’t drive myself, it looks straight forward but IMO it would be easier to travel by train and then a taxi, particularly if you’re planning on taking your car over from the UK
