The greatest American hurdler of all time has died.
His accomplishments are far too many for me to list here, and Joe Clancy of the Steeplechase Times has written a far better obituary for this legendary racehorse than I could ever write.

April 25, 2014 at 12:36 #476789I agree, quite worthy of more prominence and quite petty to remove it.
35 is some age for an ex racehorse, can’t remember many if any recently getting to that age, still sad though.
April 25, 2014 at 13:32 #476801Miss W – I remember him teaching me that the US actually does jump racing!!
Imagine the consternation if he’d have won this (
"Yanks…at Cheltenham, good Lord…"

April 25, 2014 at 15:45 #476807Sorry, did not read all of the opening post – just, thought it had been posted in the wrong part of TRF.
Was not trying to be "petty" Yeats.
April 25, 2014 at 16:13 #476809Just read his story on the website earlier. What an amazing life he had.Very lucky to reach 35 and what a wonderful person that was who cared for him.If only all our racehorses could have such a great retirement.
April 25, 2014 at 23:23 #476860Flatterer was a top class racehorse and the fact that lived to such a ripe old age merely serves to illustrate his toughness and zest for life.
His one trip to England will live long in the memory; I hope you have a great time in "horse heaven", Flatterer. You thoroughly deserved it.
