    List them!!!

From the obvious to the up-and-comers to the handicappers, the Classic contenders and the juveniles. It doesn’t matter – if we can look back on this thread after Champions Day and recognise grandiose winners of the past season that we made aware of now, we can all be proud of our own knowledge.

This is the TRF’s “Timeform” book. Fire away.

And don’t be looking to me for the big list, either!

    All I can add is:

    Thewayyouare
    Darjina

MDeering, i’m with you on thewayyouare.. He’s a blue blood with masses of potential.. See link below where I posted on this colt previously..

I was really taken with the performance of Paco Boy last weekend and really think he could be one to follow.

    Hi Threenaps.

Mountain High has gone to stud. Look out for his half-brother Praxiteles though.

Pathos, Man O Vision, We’ll Come could all win large handicaps this season if still alive and well, oh and not sold off to run twice a year in Dubai as from next year!

KITTY MATCHAM, she is from the imdeate family of Generous by the rock who is one of my top ten horses of my generation ( i saw him run in three countries). She has the Rockfel which is one of my favourate trial races.

A dark horse horse at Ballydoyle is the Austrailain horse, HARADASUN, Coolmore moved him over too Ireland, he is their BC classic winner and being by FuPeg he should be a live threat assuming he transfers his form up here.

Haradasun is an erratic type, very frustrating but clearly had the potential for superstardom. His two biggest victories to date involved him drifting across the track for most of the straight.

If they get him right at Ballydoyle, he could blitz the mile ranks quite easily. That’s not to say it will happen – he will frustrate punters and horsemen alike.

One everyone seems to have left out (unless Ive missed soemthing) is Purple Moon, surely with the removal of his manhood when he went jumping he is sure to produce something this season in the cup races and is in good hands to do so, the goodwood cup and possibly the ascot gold cup could be within his range.

I do like Dermot Weld horse Famous Name, who was a decent enough 2yo but should progress well from 2 to 3.

Also like soairse abu of bolgers who just looked to have that bit of class when winning the phoenix and the moyglare before going down to what look more like middle distance types in a testing paced fillies mile. Well over priced for 1000 guineas. (Strangley enough this time last year jim bolger entered the year with a smart daughter of mr greeley and a juvenile champion son of galileo)

Dark Angel looks sure to be a sprinter to follow this season, he’s well bred for the task, and progressed well at two.

Strike the deal may have further improvement in him, but he is a descendant of storm cat, from the first crop of van nistlerooy, and a lot of storm cats, in my view, tend to train off from 2-3, giants causeway broke this mould though and indeed Van Nistlerooy may too.

Jupiter Pluvius looks like a nice sort, don’t know how he’ll do at 3 though was following three johannesburgs last season (hamoody, scat daddy, and diamond tycoon) all three went wrong at the start of the season. Peter Chapple Hyam said when authorized won the derby that he was glad for the owners as he had messed up one of theirs (must have been hamoody). Overall though they don’t seemm to be taking much racing at 3.

One older horse that must be noted is Youmzain. He is a master of slow paced 1m4f races and there is no shortage of them throughout the season. Indeed without Dylan Thomas he would be a King George/Arc winner.

A horse who could blow away many if returning back to his best is Rail Link who won a really fast paced GPDP and a slow paced arc in 2006, looked pure class, and was put away injured last season.

Dont know what the situation report is with him, Youmzain or Notnowcato.

Doe anyone know if any of those three older ones has went off to stud?

Cheers for that YP, bit gutting with Dark Angel, thought he looked a good sort, notnowcato I could take or leave.

Was out of country for second half of last years flat (from ascot onwards) so although was trying to stay on slightly top of everything but have missed loads of news, and didn’t get to watch most of the races.

I had a small antepost bet on Great Barrier Reef at 33s for the guineas after he was second in the Gimcrack on debut, that must have been the worst gimcrack in living memory….

Well see how this one works out DJ, it could be a serious contender… :D

Lucarno could be up to winning a few more this year, if still about, last year when he beat supersonic dave he looked like a huge powerful big horse and he ran well from the front in the derby, before beating a good leger field, worth keeping an eye out for with cut in the ground at 1m4f and upwards.

I like Lucarno also, but I think he’ll prove best at 1m4f. I know he won the Leger over 2 1/2f further but I think the race was run to suit him and he seemed to be tiring at the end. A bit like Benny The Dip winning the Derby or Lochsong winning over 7f, these wins are clearly possible but i’m not sure they get repeated with any regularity. Cue the 2008 flat season to prove me wrong again!

I’m looking forward to seeing Amaakin one of Chapple-Hyams who allegedly worked well last summer but never made it onto the Racetrack, but still holds a Guineas entry.

By the way Bulwark, Rail Link is also at stud been kept by Juddmonte, £12,500 a pop seems a bit pricey to me.

Saw Aqaleem today, looked well. Had a word with a stable lass about him. Injured a tibia (she thought that was what it was) so missed the Leger. Will probably be out in June.

The one she is very keen on though is Ezdiyaad, by Galileo. Big 4 year old filly but still a baby. Half sister to Makderah, dam half sister to Nayef, Nashwan and Unfuwain.

The one the stable lads seam to like at Barry Hills yard is Cruel Sea, yery good looking 3 year old filly, winner of a back end maiden at Doncaster. One lad told me she may go for the Pretty Polly, but I can’t see her staying. American bred, by Mizzen Mast (7f-10f winner) out of Storm Dove (6-7f) by Storm Cat (6f-9f). Should still do well in 2008.
