It ill behoves me to ask such an impertinent question on what is essentially a racing section, but it has come to my notice – and I’m sure yours too – that two of our number have been ( unusually for them ) absent from this forum of late: namely, Fist and The Ante Post King – aka "The Chuckle Brothers" – only joking fellas.
Rather odd, I was thinking, considering how vociferous both were in their views leading up to Cheltenham.
Is there any known reason for this, or indeed a coincidence, that both are absent at the same time. The conspiracy theories abound.
Just curious.

March 20, 2011 at 12:07 #346337Both banned some time back Himself. Very reluctantly as both were capable of making great contributions. Unfortunately both were also capable of causing a fight in an empty room and their incessant bickering and infighting spilled over into some very unsavoury posts/threads. No thread seemed to escape and I had PMs and emails complaining that they were spoiling people’s enjoyment of the forum.
I wasn’t happy having to take that action (which is always a very last resort) but I have to say that since their disappearance the forum has seemed much more open and light, with many more people posting, so I am confident the correct decision was made. In fact I think we tolerated their childish bickering for 6 months longer than we should have really.
March 20, 2011 at 12:16 #346338Thank you for that reply, Cormack.
I had no idea.

March 20, 2011 at 13:01 #346347I hadn’t even noticed they were gone

I always thought one of them had to be Eric Morris from Betfair!!
March 20, 2011 at 14:27 #346368Can’t agree I’m afraid. Found them both highly informative and interesting and the site is poorer without them imo. I always looked forward to reading their posts. TAPK always had his toungue firmly in cheek and we are all grown ups anyway. Wouldnt a slap on the wrist have sufficed?
"this perfect mix of poetry and destruction, this glory of rhythm, power and majesty: the undisputed champion of the world!!!"
March 20, 2011 at 14:39 #346371Have to say I agree with Jonibake and am surprised they have both been banned.
How anyone can take offense from either of them and then go running to Corm telling tells I don’t know
March 20, 2011 at 14:50 #346373"we are all grown ups anyway" (sic)
Yes, we are and grown-ups do not behave that way in a public forum.
I was forever having to edit their posts because of offensive remarks or language.
Regards
March 20, 2011 at 14:52 #346374On a similar but more serious note , I have long missed the postings of the Cheltenham Specialist , who has been absent from this forum for a very long time . Not only missing the Festival but the Open meeting and all Cheltenham in between. The last post I remember of his , he said he was shortly going into hospital and I’ve seen nothing since . I like to think that he tired of TRF and now posts elsewhere …..
March 20, 2011 at 15:37 #346383Jonibake and Pompete – I agree they often had something of interest to say but, as Matron points out, their posts were often written with such immaturity and disregard for the forum rules (which exist for a reason) that they required constant monitoring and moderating.
Indeed Fist had been banned before so he’d already had his wrists slapped – I gave him the benefit of the doubt when he returned but, as is almost always the case in these instances, he continued to disregard the very simple rules we have.
March 20, 2011 at 16:02 #346386I was under the impression the Fister himself had decided to take his dwindling pile of Baht home, judged on this extract from his Diary in ‘Trends Research and Slanging Matches’
This will be my last post on this forum. According to TAPK I am a liar and make everything up…I resent that and know within myslef I have never told single lie to anyone.
Both he and TAPK had something worth committing to print but they put fingers to keyboard far too often and hit the keys with far too much gusto
Paddy’s Day at O’Neill’s – ears ring, eyes water, head hurts – is fine once a year; but if civility and sanity is required on the other 364, Lyon’s Corner House it must be
Compared to previous years, Cheltenham week was pleasantly understated here on TRF
gentility rules, nice
March 20, 2011 at 17:24 #346413They were banned??
People were private messaging and emailing the moderator to complain of their bickering??
Personally I was enjoying their insulting posts to one another it was entertaining, I thaught Fist had left himself after TAPK had called him a liar for declaring he had won some sort of bet many years ago, dont remember the thread but as Fist was already quoted he said he wouldnt be back!!
Cant beleive TAPK has been banned too, what a joke!!
The forum has definetly lacked without the banter he brought. Unfortunately if i express my enitre feelings on this one I may too be banned!!
But come on people…….
March 20, 2011 at 17:40 #346416Warming Trends – I’ve no idea about Cheltenham Specialist. I hope he is OK, I didn’t know he’d mentioned that he was going into hospital.
In addition to the understated gentility Drone, which I, like yourself, very much enjoyed, the forum had it’s busiest ever traffic week in our 10 years existence during the past seven days.
March 20, 2011 at 18:01 #346418I was going to comment on the standard of TRF during The Festival, but this seems an ideal place.
In my opinion, TRF has slightly disappointed me this year. With no Grasshopper, Big Buck’s, Fist, TAPK, to name a few, this forum has suffered.
I would argue that contributions are down on last years ‘Cheltenham’ thread during Cheltenham week. How active was the chat room this year?
If they commited a serious offence, then I would agree with their exclusion, but the pettiness has certainly increased and it has not been restricted to Fist and TAPK.
If they’re reading this, I hope they had a great Cheltenham. I’m sure Gord was on Albertas Run.
March 20, 2011 at 18:24 #346422Disagree with you, Bosranic.
2010 was a dreadful year for this community and both banned members contributed to the decline with some unpleasant, aggressive posting. I can name five or six others who’ve gone, one in particular, whose departure has improved the forum by some distance.
The first three months of this year have been more involving, friendlier and more interesting than the whole of last year.
There are several people I’d like to see back, but Twitter and other forums have taken their toll. C’est la vie.
March 20, 2011 at 18:33 #346424Max, as the author of the following can we be assured of your impartiality
Fist, you are one of the biggest tos sers I have ever come across on the internet and I wish you’d **** off.
You’re ****at tipping, **** at betting, and you’d bore a housebrick to suicide.
Don’t ever respond to one of my posts again. or I’ll get really nasty and embarrass you so you have to leave.
I edited that post because I could not be bothered to carry on. I hate Barney Curley and everything he stands for and I’d tell it to his face. In fact when he’s warned off I’ll p**s myself laughing and follow him to Holyhead ferry and wave the scrotum-headed cheat off on the ferry.
Now jog on, t**t.
Fair enough Corm, you’re the guv’nor, but was surprised they had been banned as I thought Fisty was laying low after being found out telling porkies about winning the scoop 6 or something and TAPK was now keeping his cards close to his chest now he has turned pro.

Things do seem to be getting more friendly, constructive and pleasant, at least judging from my own experience – I’ve only been faced with three
ad hominem
ripostes this month, which is quite a record!
Having said which, though there is always some danger in "greying down", the rules are clear. And if colourful posters get too labour intensive for the moderators, then it’s perfectly understandable that they’re going to get banned in the end.
