That’s how It’s worded at the bookies.
I wrote out a slip and put a bet on for a mate about 8 weeks ago and put…
First manager to be sacked = Kevin Keegan – 10/1
With the breaking news that he’s quit his post as manager of Newcastle, does anyone know how the bet stands?
Cheers.
September 2, 2008 at 14:29 #179007Should get paid IMO
If he was quoted at 10/1 in the market you mentioned, then I don’t see how they can refuse to pay out.

September 2, 2008 at 19:26 #179062Sky Sports are now saying that Keegan has not been sacked according to a statement on the Newcastle website. Very confusing and some bookies have started offering odds on who will be the next Newcastle manager with Poyet as favourite.

September 2, 2008 at 21:58 #179085Anyone else get the feeling Keegan was sacked and then Ashley ate humble pie and asked him back because of the fans’ reaction to the sacking news?
September 2, 2008 at 22:02 #179087Would he have gone back if that had happened? Doubt it but depends on whether he needs the cash though.

I think he wouldve gone back….Keegans very much a man for the fans and seeing a whole city chanting your name and shouting ‘Sack the board’ mustve made him feel like even more of a cult hero
September 3, 2008 at 14:23 #179175You won’t get paid now I don’t think as Alan Curbishley has officially left West Ham.
The key word being officially, as this surely means that even if Keegan was sacked or resigned yesterday, it was never confirmed and bookies will only pay out on facts (official notification) rather than rumours or speculation.
Anyone backing Keegan can feel a little hard done by, especially if it concludes with him never stepping in St James Park again.

Keegan – Has he, hasn’t he?
Breaking news now that Alan Curbishley has just resigned.
What strange goings on, who’d be a bookie?
For the record, my mate went to the bookies yesterday tea-time as all the reports were that Keegan had been sacked, and they paid him out.
September 3, 2008 at 14:43 #179178Thank god Curbs has gone!
About time…bring on the Bilic!

Wow, tell him well done, I’m amazed at that. Mind, I should never be amazed as I think I read somewhere that one bookie paid out on Stoke being relegated after their opening game of the season
