I’ve just seen that this poor horse has been put to sleep after his final fence fall in the Hunters chase at Killarney R.I.P.
Not to make light of the situation but having read some comments on social media towards Finnie Maguire, saying he’s a disgrace and he killed the horse etc. i felt here might be the best place to look for an informed answer.I watched the race as i had a few quid on Seventh Sign as i had heard excellent reviews about him months back and Cheltenham was mentioned. From my observation of the race i felt the horse jumped poorly when he was left to make his own mind up but looked a different animal the few times he was asked for a big one. Coming up to the last i actually said to myself i hope he goes for a big one to make sure he gets over. Unfortunately when he did ask this time the horse didn’t respond and came down but am i wrong to think the Young lad did nothing wrong? Surely if the horse looks like making mistakes/falling when left to his own devices yet responds well when asked to go for it then he should be asked to go for it?
