BINOCULAR at 7/4 a great price and he will win. Can’t see a horse in lineup coming close to him.
November 12, 2011 at 23:12 #377591Have to agree.
Beaten here twice but that was before Hurricane Fly stamped his authority on the Champion Hurdle.
Binocular’s chances of regaining the crown must be fairly remote so it would make sense for Nicky Henderson to win everything he can while he can this season.
He has said the horse is much fitter than he has been at this time of the year in the past and with only Overturn and Celestial Halo to beat 7/4 looks way too big.
Obviously the bookies doubt Nicky Henderson and the horse.
Fools!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
November 18, 2011 at 02:34 #378314Well Darren din’t we do well price wise
Bad day when Celestial Halo is promoted to second fav. He looked extremely fit when he won the other day but Binocular’s stable companion Grandoet was cantering all over him before he had a disagreement with a hurdle.
Gotta tell you something about what the yard thinks their chances of taking this are. Looks nailed on.
Considering Overturn runs on Saturday the chances are he won’t even turn up
November 18, 2011 at 16:13 #378378Mate lets not count our winnings just yet.In this game Binocular will go off a 1/3fav and get beat a nose by outsider. So lets wait and see but i hope he wins.
November 19, 2011 at 09:51 #378512Unless they put Hurricane Fly in as a ringer or a herd of buffalo gets lose from Newcastle Zoo which doesn’t exist he’ll win.
TBH if he hits 4/7 or 1/2 anytime between now and the off I’ll be greening out.
November 22, 2011 at 10:47 #379125Stan James who are currently best price on all bar Celestial Halo are offering at the moment a special where if your selection wins you get a free bet in the Champion Hurdle.
Blackbeard to conquer the World
November 22, 2011 at 11:31 #379132I am extremely happy with my 6/4 and Mr Henderson has been saying for a long time now we have not seen the real Binocular run for a while!
Personally i can see him hosing up and then onwards and upwards to the festival.
November 22, 2011 at 18:07 #379199Considering his general lack of consistency over the past couple of years I’d be very wary of Binocular, especially first time out at odds on. That said though it does look a poor renewal.
Does anyone know for sure whether Brampour is set to take his place or whether he will wait for the International Hurdle as was originally planned? My instincts tell me he’ll skip Saturday as all his usual jockey options are otherwise engaged.
November 22, 2011 at 20:30 #379238You have got to look a bit closer to these situations. Paul Nichols year after year told us how fit and well Kauto Star was before his 1st run of the season which was complete rubbish. As soon as he scraped home or got beaten by much inferior animals it was "He needed that badly"
This time when the horse had clearly lost his form and with nothing to lose he worked that backside of him as if it were the Gold Cup itself he was going for.
When you have the fav for the Champion Hurdle or the Gold Cup the last thing you want to be doing is too much work too soon.
Binocular is not favourite and he may not even top the pecking order with Spirit Son and Grandouet improving fast plus he has won next to nothing by his standards since he won the CH.
I’d say it’s a pretty safe bet when Nicky tells you he is working better than he has seen him since he won the Champion you can take it as gospel. He’ll be desperate to win this and the Xmas hurdle as there’s no guarantee even at his best he can beat Hurricane Fly, his own stable companions or Thousand Stars for that matter, come March.
Binocular can’t afford to fail on Sauturday and the way Nicky’s are running he should win with a ton in hand if he has the faintest chance of going to the Festival in March.,

All very well argued HGM and it will probably transpire…but its Binocular and its 4/5, so I will pass if its all the same.
November 22, 2011 at 23:16 #379262I love Binocular but can not have him at that price, Celestial Halo 7/2 screams value.
November 23, 2011 at 08:24 #379285A lot depends on whether Overturn turns up. If he does then presumably he will be ready to rumble, in which case neither Binocular nor Celestial Halo look especially good value.
The suspicion with Binocular is that his best form involves steroid treatment. Clearly he won’t be taking any medication this time so his form is uncertain. And his form is rather in and out at the best of times. However, I am inclined to agree with HGM that it would be logical to treat this a more than a training run given that Bino is 12/1 for the Champion Hurdle and he can pick up about 50k for the Fighting Fifth.
I took some of the 2.75 on Bino a while back but I will wait and see now for the final line up. Celestial Halo each way might be ok in a 5 runner race without Overturn.
I suppose one way to play this would be to back Bino for the Champion Hurdle. If he wins the FF he might go into 9-1 for the CH and if he loses it will be put down to not being fully fit yet.

That statement has echoes of all those people were who said Frankel was a certainty then backed something else because it was "VALUE"

November 26, 2011 at 02:23 #379659Is the WBX Bonus on this year?
With the low turnout I guess not, but can anyone confirm?
November 26, 2011 at 08:15 #379677Can’t have Bino at the odds, Overturn had Osacr Whisky in plenty of trouble before he fell last week and you could argue OW had a better season than Bino last campaign.
Overturn for me a 3/1 is good value and will do for me.

Cracking horse though he is, I’d doubt Overturn is up to this class, and both of the big 2 would have to disappoint for him to win it.
November 26, 2011 at 13:39 #379740Don’t trust Binocular at short odds (though he may well win). Overturn had a tough race last week, so the money is on Celestial Halo.
