Not ones where you backed the winner or loser but just epic classics
Seeing that Hardy Eustace recently passed away the 2005 Champion Hurdle memory comes flooding back

The more I know the less I understand.
February 7, 2024 at 17:46 #1680258Probably my favourite chaser, Remittance Man.
The more I know the less I understand.
February 7, 2024 at 17:58 #1680261Didn’t Hardy Eustace hurdle well. I thought he wore blue blinkers? He was so pretty, I always thought he looked like a show pony.

February 7, 2024 at 19:43 #1680268The 1992 Sun Alliance Chase, a great finish and the first five included two Grand National winners, two Scottish National winners and a double Mackeson Gold Cup winner:
February 7, 2024 at 20:11 #1680269Pretty sure I was on Mutare in that, beaten when falling.
The more I know the less I understand.
February 7, 2024 at 20:19 #1680270The 1981 Cheltenham Gold Cup – Night Nurse certainly wasn’t receiving weight when beating “somewhat” better horses than Cima to win his two Champion Hurdles and, instead of beating a non-stayer in Wayward Lad who was conceding weight, Night Nurse ran an almighty race, the best effort ever from a Champion Hurdle winner in the Cheltenham Gold Cup, to divide Little Owl and the following year’s winner Silver Buck here: https://youtu.be/W9Z7m7gJpes?si=TA7yVnul0x0Zye64

February 7, 2024 at 21:56 #1680288This is one of my favourite Festival races:
February 7, 2024 at 21:57 #1680289Sea pigeon winning the championship hurdle with francome on board one of my favs.
February 7, 2024 at 22:04 #1680291All of these are brilliant. Another one for me is the 2011 Gold Cup.
Impressive as Long Run was, it was the sight of Kauto Star and Denman battling it out on the home turn that made it so memorable. Both were nearing the end of their careers, but finally provided the sight that so many people had been wanting to see for years.
Not ashamed to admit that I may have wiped a tear or two away at the end of that race.
February 7, 2024 at 22:07 #1680293That was one I was thinking of Marlingford
took my older brother that day. He was no horse racing fan but really enjoyed the atmosphere and race that dayGaelic Warrior Gold Cup Winner 2026
February 7, 2024 at 22:17 #1680296Bloody Norton’s Coin – couldn’t win a Leicester Maiden Hunters’ Chase when I needed him to to go through the card when at The Guardian then goes and floors Desert Orchid in a Cheltenham Gold Cup.
That’s racing!
