On sidelines again, picked up a new injury during winning on comeback last week. Mullins says be out for six, seven week he see if he can run him Galway

March 3, 2024 at 16:17 #1683444Really should re-name him Sick Note – shame that we will never get to see just how good he could have been.
March 3, 2024 at 16:24 #1683445Should’ve went straight to Cheltenham this year. He was always going to bounce on his next run also after 800 days off.
Another in the extremely long list of Mullins crocks.
March 3, 2024 at 17:42 #1683455He hasn’t bounced simply because he hasn’t been able to have that 2nd run after his layoff to which the bounce effect could potentially take effect – considering his injury history he has managed back to back runs 3 times and has never underperformed the 2nd time around.
They sadly just can’t keep him sound after racing and perhaps the biggest mystery is how they managed to get 4 races out of him in the 2019/20 season especially considering he had 27 days between his 1st and 2nd runs and just 17 days between his 3rd and 4th runs of said season (the 4th run being in winning the Cheltenham Bumper).
I very much agree that it might have been more prudent going straight to Cheltenham as it is not like Mullins hasn’t had previous form going to the Festival and winning with a seasonal debutant…..he turned it into somewhat of an art form with Quevega year in year out.
March 3, 2024 at 18:08 #1683457LD, I meant in his next run after last week.
March 3, 2024 at 18:55 #1683461Sicknote , Darren Andertons old nickname I recall.
Real shame to see this horse injured again .March 4, 2024 at 11:45 #1683524I always thought he was top drawer, and I’ve followed his progress ever since I was right by the line at Leopardstown when he got done in a head bobber with a Giggi horse.
It’s been very unfortunate the injuries that he’s had, and I’m now hoping that they call it a day with him now
