Charles Darwin to conquer the World
March 26, 2008 at 18:37 #153916Midway Lady,dual classic winner and underrated.
At the time worked with someone whos brother worked in Ben Hanbury’s stable.Received many a whisper but heard about her long before her racecourse debut("best horse ever in the stables") and steamed in on her first run.Her only career defeat but I got my money back and more thereafter.
Rose Bowl and Bosra Sham were other favourites.
March 26, 2008 at 19:27 #153932Elopement. Multiple winner in 2007, tough little cookie.
March 26, 2008 at 21:01 #153956Russian Rhythym, Catchascatchcan, Finsceal Beo, Rags To Riches. Had a soft spot for Maids Causeway, Eswaraah and Virgina Waters too.
March 26, 2008 at 21:35 #153961Favourite fillies – mmmmmmm,a tough one for me as there have been so many good ones over the years, but here are a few of mine.
I don’t expect younger racing fans to have heard of all the fillies on this list, but hopefully all of them will be remembered by different people on this forum :
Marisela
Allez France
Dahlia
La Lagune
Riverqueen
Applecross
Indian Skimmer
Kerkura
Urban Sea
User Friendly
Time Charterand many others……
March 26, 2008 at 21:49 #153964Al Bahathri a shocking omission. Big mentions to Time Charter and Triptych.
March 26, 2008 at 21:55 #153966Forgot about Al Bahathri and Urban Sea, shame on me…
March 26, 2008 at 22:46 #153971I loved those two greys, Petite Etoile and Indian Skimmer – poetry in motion.
The beefy Park Top and Ouija Board are two others worth mentioning.

User Friendly- does anyone remember listening to the St Leger on radio 5? will never forget Peter Bromley calling her home, in a shouting husky voice "Here comes the filly", its amazing what the old grey matter remembers.March 26, 2008 at 23:00 #153978User friendly doing it on ground she hated too..wonderful
March 27, 2008 at 17:34 #154106Lady Carla – pocket talking as had first big win (of very few I might add) on her as a schoolboy when she won the Oaks.

Dubacilla – a very tough mare
March 27, 2008 at 18:44 #154117Dubacilla…….eh if we are talking mares Dawn Run could be worth a mention.
Great to see Henry Candy’s Time Charter mentioned…….so reliable, she won fortunes for punters…great filly
March 27, 2008 at 19:02 #154120Peeping Fawn may be as good as many mentioned above.
Whilst not of the very top echelon…Petrushka and Imagine were particular favourites.
