The government seem obsessed with driving food companies to produce healthier foods. Surely they are focusing their efforts in the wrong area.
Education of the public should be the priority.
March 24, 2012 at 12:07 #398276Another example of the creeping Nanny State if you ask me.
Successive governments seem to have been obsessed with legislating on everything. Whatever happened to the idea of self responsibility?
March 24, 2012 at 12:17 #398277Judging by the sizes of the rear ends waddling down any High St. self resposibility went out of the window years ago, when will people realise its loads cheaper to knock yourself up a healthy meal at home than to buy a sugar & salt laden takeaway.

Agreed, but that is their choice IMO, and they themselves should be prepared to accept teh consequences of their own actions. Another shocking (IMO) is this minimum price for alcohol malarky – because of a small minority of idiots, the price has to go up for everyone (or is it a sneaky tax). Quite honestly, I think its pathetic.
March 25, 2012 at 09:02 #398331Tubbies are the next smokers and drinkers, the government is nearing the end-game in attacking them and the constant tax increases on those will damage the tobacco and alcohol related areas too much.
Seeing as fat related problems cost the NHS more than smokers and drinkers combined, it’s only natural to go for them next as like drinking and smoking it’s just personal choice to do it, regardless of consequence.
Government for a long while has totally ignored education and responsibility, why would they start now?
