I am a 2014 BIG RACES Member at The Racecourse, Newbury and, in general, I consider it a good value-for-money package at a consistently enjoyable venue to go racing. HOWEVER, I was disappointed on Saturday to have to pay £15 for My 13yo son to accompany Me because a has-been band he and I had no intention of staying one second after racing to watch were a post-racing ”attraction.” I am similarly disappointed to see I will again have to pay £15 because apparently Pete Tong and Annie Mac will be around on 16th August. That card features the Geoffrey Freer and the Hungerford Stakes and is a brilliant card for those who actually have an interest in horse racing. I have no objection to you using your excellent venue for concerts between meetings, I have no objection to you using your venue for concerts at low-key meetings, but please in 2015 do NOT put them on your list of Saturday BIG RACE days. Thank you.

It's the "Millwall FC" of Point broadcasts: "No One Likes Us - We Don't Care"July 22, 2014 at 21:39 #486181I hope when Good Vibrations came on you told him ‘listen up sonny Jim because that is the greatest piece of popular music ever written’.
July 23, 2014 at 10:12 #486195This will never work Chief.
You don’t wanna listen to a ‘has-been’ band? Well guess what, The Racecourse don’t wanna listen to a has-been poster on some forum they never read.
You’ve got to confront them head-on. Tell their twitter handle that they’re not on, copy in The Wilsons and tell them you never liked Pet Sounds anyway and asking them what have they done since. Rope in @BASINGSTOKE_FC and ask them to reconsider giving The Racecourse their money for the chance to enter their minbus of fans in the traditional off-season Brawl that takes place there every July between the rival soccer franchises.
You need to have a proper old-school meltdown if you wanna be heard these days.
July 23, 2014 at 12:03 #486201£15 for a young lad
I’d have put him ont’ first bus back home
It’d have to been Presley, Lennon & Mercury (not tribute acts) for me to pay that price.July 23, 2014 at 15:25 #486208What a let down …feel for you chief

was the beginning of the degradation
of our sport – they changed the
Derby to a Saturday and and consequently
a lot of racing people
missed the big day and big
bookmakers continued their covert
rule making the product mediocreA good band like the doors
singing riders on the storm
near the exit with a free bet
hologram projection of Jim Morrison
selling hog roasts might just
be worth fifteen smackers
but instead the bland were hired
by channel four to tell us it is
a lot better than rexBring back the roll neck !
July 27, 2014 at 18:52 #486620Salisbury last night was MUCH better….standard prices and Battle Of The DJs playing 90s through to present day music after racing.
It’s Glorious Goodwood without the massive fields there.
