No shortage of confidence from Head in the RP today.
What is being said??
July 8, 2009 at 15:14 #238455Yet while a below-par performance in the Prix d’Ispahan will dissuade some from supporting the French challenger, her admiring trainer Freddie Head has lost not one iota of faith.
"I am very confident. On form she looks to be the best horse, so I expect her to win and win well," said the trainer, whose Newmarket raider stands head and shoulders above the Falmouth opposition judged onher 2008 Group 1 hat-trick.
July 8, 2009 at 15:24 #238459There is some misleading information in the Racing Post’s "Today’s Trainers".
It says Freddie Head has had no winners and no placed in the last two weeks. With 21 runs and 276 days since his last win.
As it says, this info only takes in to account GB + I runners plus European Group races. The RP website says Freddie had a winner on 2nd May (Ashaaq) and two seconds on May 1st. One winner and two seconds from 6 runs in the last two weeks (none in European group races).
"Todays Trainers" is supposed to tell us which trainer is in form. The web site has the information, so why can’t it be used for the newspaper?
Value Is EverythingJuly 8, 2009 at 16:26 #238477San Sicharia is up against it in this grade but the 100/1 on offer with Bluesq is far too big. Will IMO appreciate the step up in trip, ground will suit and was unlucky in running last time out – certainly value for a place from a yard that doesn’t send many over here.
July 8, 2009 at 17:31 #238489Although Goldikova is the one to beat here, I’ll have a little go on Evas Request @ 20-1 e/w, along with Ceedwell 11-1 and Little Scotland 20-1 e/w in the cherry hinton…
July 8, 2009 at 18:19 #238511Jesus wept and cried and sobbed, how impressive was that!?!?!
Will the last Rainbow View fan turn off the light please.
July 8, 2009 at 18:21 #238512I got the impression that was a safe and cosy win. Unleashed she might have dropped 2-4 lengths on the Cheveley twins. Not impressive but, proof she has trained on accordingly.
July 8, 2009 at 18:32 #238515Her win was good without being spectacular. Although to an extent, it is perhaps the kind of win you want as a trainer with him having a couple of bigger future races in mind.
July 8, 2009 at 20:01 #238535Olivier Peslier’s ride was class personified. Everytime another filly came to challenge Goldikova, he simply nudged her head in front and kept her up to her work without pressing the panic button or resorting to the whip. Class performance from both horse and jockey.

July 8, 2009 at 20:03 #238536Goldikova won very nicely and he never got very serious with her, she just had too much class for the others. I would imagine he will take on the colts with her next time.
Rainbow View has had enough chances now and she sadly hasn’t progressed much as a 3yo and doesn’t look up to group 1 level.
July 8, 2009 at 21:18 #238546great ride from peslier. i don’t know how anyone couldn’t back her at 2/1. even if she had flopped it would have been worth the risk that she would return to last years form. She won snugly enough in the end.

She’s won well, but you would have to think that the race was being used to gear her up for bigger targets – a short distance victory over Heaven Sent and Spacious, no matter how cosy, isn’t anything to rave about.
July 9, 2009 at 22:42 #238775She won but this was way below her level last year. I watched the Peslier interview afterwards and he didn’t give me the impression he was confident she would go on to reproduce last season’s form. In a better race I certainly wouldn’t be rushing to back her.
July 9, 2009 at 22:58 #238779Stilvi, me and you got different impressions !
