Judging from many ‘come back’ rides including Dettori’s and the infamous Declan Murphy one at Chepstow the first Fallon won will win.
August 16, 2009 at 14:27 #244125Think a lot of people in the racing industry (particularly journalists) have never forgiven Fallon, Jack and Linda Ramsden for "winning" the Top Cees court case. Which practically finished off the old Sporting Life newspaper. I believe some journalists, both within and outside racing; may have been after Fallon ever since.
Agree with you Mark and IMO it was one of the worst things to happen to racing. Ever since the RP has been up the backside of certain trainers (most notably Nicholls) and any journalist they have on there books who wants to voice an opinion is immediately rmemoved from such a position (see Graham Cunningham who had a tipping column but IMO would be a great acquisition for any racing paper, tells it how it is and isn’t afraid to speak his mind).
You’ll hardly ever see a ride criticised unless it’s blatantly obvious and along with the likes of the muttley mob on The Morning Line they’re all too busy beating a drum for the jockeys and trainers to worry about the actual state that racing is in.
August 16, 2009 at 14:33 #244126I think that it is misleading to suggests Cunnigham was removed from the Post because of expressing any forthright opinions. Wasn’t it reducing the budget by limiting freelancers and using previous trading post writers and spotlighters e.g Pieto Incenzi (sp?), Matt Williams and Richard Austen their own headline tipping page.
August 17, 2009 at 01:19 #244230I don’t know Fallon personally but then I doubt anyone else on here knows him either. However, a few friends of mine were involved in a horse that Fallon rode at one of the gaff tracks a few years back (think it might have been either Killarney or Tralee). They didn’t really know what to expect from Fallon in the paddock beforehand but he was nothing but affable and charming. Now obviously there’s only so much you can learn about a person from a few minutes of conversation but they’d heard all the horror stories about Fallon and in their experience nothing could be further from the truth.
I look forward to seeing his riding prowess back on the racecourse. If he can retain his focus and discipline then he’ll be back riding big winners in no time. There’s still no better rider on the level in these isles IMHO.

Amen to that Brother!
August 17, 2009 at 05:08 #244267Frankie Dettori the housewives favourite was arrested in the early 90`s for possesion. He was picked up drunk and police found cocaine in his pocket. The story was, a Japanese owner put it in his top pocket after he won the race or something along those lines. Didnt really affect his career or the racing industry, people were happy to believe it. As long as Jockeys perform on the racecourse who cares how they poison themselves in their own time. As for the race fixing, wherever money is involved you get cheats. Its not right, and I dont agree with it but what can we do about it?

It’s obviously a matter of ‘speak as you find’ but a friend of mine, who is involved in ownership, tells a different story. Abrupt, rude about their horse and foul language.
Colin
August 17, 2009 at 09:59 #244275Hes a good bloke Seabird, not at all what you would expect. Hes made a few mistakes in life, but who on here can say they have never done anything they regret!

I know him
August 17, 2009 at 14:07 #244296I dont think anyone would argue that kieron fallon is an exceptionaly good jockey ,and i have always enjoyed watching him ride but K Fallons personal life is always likely to let him down,so i think it will only be a matter of time before he hits the headlines for the wrong reasons again.
August 17, 2009 at 16:11 #244311i’m only interested in fallon the jockey. he’s the best. everyone’s private life should be private.

Agree, everyone’s private life is their own. Unless Fallon rides under the influence of drugs, bringing his private life in to racing.
Value Is EverythingAugust 17, 2009 at 23:53 #244408I largely agree with the comments about his private life being his but hes brought suspicion on himself by the company he has regularly kept. Whether its resulted in any shenanigans, well…. but point is that, by doing so, he has hardly helped racings poor image. And that is a problem given the competition from other betting outlets
Its perhaps not for him to look at the wider picture, many would say, but its an inescapable truth that it has damaged the sport
August 18, 2009 at 01:50 #244451I was going to stay clear here but something happened State Side and some Bloggers were Dancing in one man’s mistake’s–One could say mistakes were my business so to speak. (Being Police)
I Loathed it when One had it so well And I watched The ruin their fine life, name & reputation.
I would get sick when my Brothers in arms would make jokes about so & so’s fall from Grace.
I am a Believer in 2nd chances sometimes- I am Against any sort of glee when one fails to make the proper choices.I don’t know hardly anything about the man- But I wish him well towards redemption if that be possible for him.
August 18, 2009 at 02:22 #244456would not be employed as an Ambassador for the sport.
August 19, 2009 at 05:39 #244689Kieran is no better and no worse than most people associated with racing.. Henderson was warned off for three months for giving drugs to horses . Kieran for a year for giving drugs to himself. As for keeping the wrong company . Most gambling types would be considered the wrong company . I have been involved with horse racing for over sixty years and most of my friends consider racing the arena of Barnum and Baily. " You can fool all the people some of the time and some of the people all the time….etc etc etc".Nobody goes into racing to make an honest living.Unless you consider gambling one.
