fallon is on a retainer for his services, he is a millionaire and he can ride anywhere outside of this country as well as work ride in this country – compare this with joe public accused of such a crime. no other job allows this.
July 10, 2006 at 23:27 #73388It’s only just dawned on me, maybe Fallon saw this coming when he made the decision to leave Stoute and return to Ireland. Racing’s equivalent of The Lump?

I've walked and I crawled on six crooked highwaysJuly 11, 2006 at 07:38 #73389Purwell,
I think you’re safe to assume this was a tactical move and is both telling of itself, and an indication of the thoroughness of his legal counsel.

August 10, 2006 at 09:30 #73390I see Fallon’s trying to get clearance in Illinois to ride in the Arlington Million meeting.Originally he was thought to be banned non negotiably
August 10, 2006 at 10:05 #73391From Sportsman website
Kieren Fallon has been refused permission to partner Ace for Aidan O’Brien in the Arlington Million in Chicago on Saturday, according to reports from America.
The Arlington Park stewards have upheld the Illinois Racing Board’s ruling that suspensions from other jurisdictions be honoured at the state’s tracks, according to the Thoroughbred Times website.
"Mr Fallon’s presence on the grounds of any facility under the jurisdiction of the Illinois Racing Board calls into question the honesty and integrity of horse racing due to his current indictment in England of conspiracy to defraud," ruled the stewards.
Fallon is suspended from riding in Britain as he faces trial next year on charges of conspiracy to defraud, but he can ride in Irelans, where his licence has been issued

Fallon denied Illinois license
By ALAN SHUBACK
An attempt by trainer Aidan O’Brien to name Kieren Fallon to ride Ace in the Arlington Million and Ivan Denisovich in the Secretariat Stakes on Saturday was stymied when the Illinois Racing Board denied Fallon a license to ride in Illinois as well as denying him access to Arlington Park and any other facility operated by the board

August 10, 2006 at 11:29 #73392I would hope for their sake that the HRA have a water tight case. If not I think Fallon will take them to the cleaners.

August 10, 2006 at 11:35 #73393I would hope for the sake of racing the CPS have a water tight case, because if they don’t the criminal elements will be taking everyone to the cleaners
August 10, 2006 at 12:04 #73394I keep forgeting that Fallon must be innocent cos hes a great jockey
Winston being a good jockey is not that guilty
The others being ordinary jockeys, are guilty as sin.
August 10, 2006 at 12:05 #73395Nice one EW ;)
August 10, 2006 at 12:06 #73396JohnJ,
In what way do you think Fallon could take them to the cleaners ?
If you’re talking about at some future date expecting compensation for HRA actions to date, then forget it – legally, not a snowball’s chance in hell.
also, in the criminal justice system, there are very, very few "not guilty" verdicts that are followed up by any kind of compensation payment – and that’s even if the acquitted was banged up in jail for months prior to the trial.
in life, "stuff happens".
the kind of folk who go around expecting compensation from others for any and everything that happens in their lives are going to be sorely disappointed.

August 10, 2006 at 12:10 #73397Surely a riding licence is simply a priviledge, not a right?
And to see multimillionaire Fallon bleating about poverty once again….
Dignified it wasnt
August 11, 2006 at 11:17 #73398Wit,
Ok, you know more about this than I do, so I’ll bow to your superior knowledge.
Clivex,
How is a jockey’s license simply a privilege? Surely you have to earn the "right" to have a license? And it seems according to you Fallon is guilty, yet you don’t have any evidence to the contrary.

Mate, I’m not the only one who seems to have done this to death. Also, you don’t know if KF is gulity or not, but you are certainly implying he is guilty. I have never once taken an opinion on the matter, you have. So please don’t be so patronising in future. "This has been done to death", cop on clive.
And if KF believes he is innocent, he is entitled to whinge as much as he likes. I wonder if you were cutailed from earning a living under circumstances you believed to be unfair, you’d take it on the chin and move on? Doubt it very much…..

August 11, 2006 at 12:17 #73402At least he is not smacked off his t*ts like some people.
August 11, 2006 at 12:50 #73403I was refering to the compensation rather than the ban, which, if innocent, must be very frustrating
