I see that Kieren Fallon has been permanently jocked off all rides for Sheikh Obaid al Maktoum. He will continue to ride for Luca Cumani’s other owners.
The official statement from Luca Cumani did not give any hint towards why Sheikh Obaid has ditched Fallon. I have seen a few comments on TRF suggesting Fallon is losing his strength in a finish, so perhaps this is a pure racing decision.
‘Fallon gonna Fallon‘, though. Could there be more to it?
July 3, 2013 at 20:00 #444749In the words of Molly, "Obaidi Obada life goes on."
July 3, 2013 at 23:10 #444760If that is the case re declining powers in a finish, then he is finished full stop.
He misses more breaks than any other top jockey that I have ever seen, and also runs into more traffic problems also.July 3, 2013 at 23:25 #444763unfortunately his career seeems to be over.i am a massive fallon fan and have always admired his talents,i think he was as good as anyone in his prime, but hes not getting the rides anymore either and he wont get the quality ones again, hes living off scraps now and there seem to be more, less competent jockeys being offered rides ahead of him.i feel sorry for hm,just when things looked to be coming right for him when he got that ride for o brien on recital in the derby, that prick took out an injunction to stop him riding and ballydoyle have never gonre back to him since.if he had of gotten riding for them again who knows he might have got some more big race wins on the back of it,but hes had no luck whatsoever since he came back from the ban.as good as anyone in a high pressure big race,no nosense just gets the job done

let’s just remember what the Court of Appeal said on that occasion:
====
The defendant [Fallon] has voluntarily entered into a contract for substantial reward, which prohibits him from riding Recital this afternoon. The defendant has brought this present predicament upon himself by his own deliberate and cynical disregard of a contract recently entered into. As the judge observed on page 20 of the transcript:
"I am satisfied, as I have expressed earlier, that the true facts here are that the defendant believed he could just ignore this binding contract. I have little sympathy for him and in my judgment he has acted with deliberate selfishness."
Mr McPherson [Fallon’s brief] does not criticise this passage in the judgment.
I would add that the defendant has not improved his position by putting forward evidence in these proceedings which it is common ground must be treated as untruthful….

July 4, 2013 at 03:12 #444768Who exactly was that P..k who owned Recital and what is his present role in racing.
July 4, 2013 at 08:02 #444771the owner is in agro-chemicals in Turkey:

where he is building up a stud farm:
horses in GB currently listed with the Henry Cecil and Hugo Palmer stables.
read the Court report and it doesn’t seem to be the owner who was the "P..k".
July 4, 2013 at 16:42 #444784Still a decent jockey, as has proven today, but gone are the days when i’d back him on a less fancied horse because he could get that extra few pounds out of them.
His win on Gift Horse in the 2005 Stewards Cup is still one of the best rides in a sprint i’ve seen
The Cumani yard is not the force it was.

And
Gift horse
a lightly raced 5yo at the time who was showing a nice progressive profile was never the same horse again in 40 odd more runs!
July 7, 2013 at 00:34 #444998Although isolated incidents can mislead, perhaps today at Haydock explains why he has been axed.
Emirates Queen wins the Lancashire Oaks (Group 2) under Atzeni, and then Fallon rides a shocker on the favourite Opinion, in the Old Newton Cup.
He is an absolute master at finding trouble in running, in my opinion. His finishing strength in the past, occasionally, mitigated some of his self inflicted problems, but only some.
A grossly over rated jockey, and having tried to speak to him in the past, he is one I have no interest in speaking to in the future.July 7, 2013 at 01:00 #445001Mmm, I’m agreeing with you after thinking more about Fallon, Coggy.
His ride on Horatio Nelson in the Dewhurst sticks in my mind as one of the most avoidable defeats for a favourite in a Group 1. Giving first run to Sir Percy, weaving into trouble rather than into the open space on the outside and falling short by less than a length was very frustrating to watch, even as a neutral.
July 7, 2013 at 05:05 #445004He is an absolute master at finding trouble in running, in my opinion.
His appalling ride on Sleepytime, in the Fred Darling Stakes, will always stick in my mind.
July 10, 2013 at 20:54 #445340Don’t like him, don’t trust him would not back a horse i fancied with himm on. To much history for me. The sooner he leaves the game the better, the sport is better off without people like him IMHO

There’s a saying in Racing……….’Never believe a word Kieran says’,some of the stuff that comes out his mouth is misleading at best,he’s very cautious of everyone who goes near him almost bordering on Paranoia and yet still puts himself through the daily rigours of a jockeys life.Last Saturday was a key moment in Fallons professional life,he’s publicly lost the rides for one of his Trainers biggest owners in Mr Obaid but gets the support of his old allie Sir Michael to ride ‘Opinion’ in one of the richest handicaps of the year,a race even with 9-10 he should have won,he’ll win the Ebor with Ryan up now! Kieran then makes the 2 hour trek from Haydock to Nottingham for one ride,a journey he wouldn’t have bothered with had it not been for Mr Cumani and he’s on another beaten fav!To his credit he was all smiles posing for pictures though! I’ve exchanged pleasantries with Kieran for many years but thats as much as you get,he trusts no-one outside his tight little circle of friends and being naturally awkward he comes across as an arrogant rogue with a fierce temper, particularly to those who he has himself mis-judged.We all know his past is littered like a Dustbin thats got caught on the back of a bin lorry and dragged down the street scattering its contents for all to see. He’s picked up those pieces but the debris left behind has left an indelible mark.To me from the moment Kieran won on ‘Wince’ to the day he won on ‘Dylan Thomas’ sums up his brilliance as a jockey,a period of about 7yrs,he was the man.If only Kieran was born a mute he wouldn’t have got into half the troubles he’s been in.
