Not bad, I say…. very good
I was dissappointed with Confidential Lady it obviously needed the run. Anna Pavlova helped me out so I made £105 on the race. Commando Scott was a good result I had £50 @ 9/2. As for the other races I just ran out of steam. But nevertheless a profiable day.
I have got to make my processes more efficient.
No one can call you a ****** mate. I have to put up with it all the time

carlisleSeptember 22, 2007 at 18:30 #116010Given that my betting bank is somewhat small I ended up making a £122 profit so pleased with that, If only i had gone from Freman then I would be even happier.
Only dodgy races of the day and where my shortlist let me down was the 3.45 at Newbury. Other than that the winner can be found in each of my shortlists
September 22, 2007 at 18:32 #116013Also had Mr Keppel and Beaver Patrol E/W, With my £5 maximum bet its worked out ok.
When my bank is big enough hopefully I can think about a £50 bet
September 23, 2007 at 06:22 #116054Hi mate
the stake money is only a passenger the analysis/bet selection process is the vehicle. Unfortunately I am having to push mine most of the way.
Here are 3 of my (toe in the water guideline) printouts. 1450ayr, 1605ayr & 1640ayr

carlisleps I need allies, by the way. I have got my EGO caged.
Although it does enjoy the odd visit to the gym!September 23, 2007 at 07:22 #116059Could I ask how you calculate you class rating as mine is slightly different. I understand that your speed ratings are your own as well
September 23, 2007 at 09:20 #116065Hi 1FurOut
with regard to class I use the total prize money won divided by the number of starts. I am not sure if this is better or worse. Did you really cut/paste and import that data I sent you?
Because if you did, you must understand all about special pasting values and skipping the blanks?

Yes I do produce my own speed ratings.

carlisleSeptember 23, 2007 at 18:47 #116130Did you email me the data as I never got anything, the only data I had was on one of your posts above and this was the same as my data entries (form TS Rpr starting price)
All I did was work out the class (I use win prize money in 00’s divded by total wins)
September 23, 2007 at 19:58 #116136so you entered all your data manually?
September 23, 2007 at 21:36 #116148When the taces were named earlier in the week I waited for the decs and entered the details. I had to wait until Friday for the SP’s
September 24, 2007 at 05:30 #116163Hi 1FurOut
now what is this thread about….. Oh! yes extracting data. You want to speed things up don’t you mate. How long did it take you manually?
I hope to get some help from Hensman, but here is my best suggestion.
Go to the RP website and select (highlight in blue) the race that interests you. Like so……….
1(1) 2813-6 St Savarin 34 R A Fahey 42 6 10-0 Paul Hanagan 91 92 SP SP
2(9) P-2301 Sphinx 39 Jamie Poulton 67 9 9-13b Steve Drowne 3 94 93 SP SP
3(2) 232-97 Southern Regent 25 G A Swinbank 45 6 9-13 P J McDonald(3) 93 57 SP SP
4(7) 636760 Lets Roll 14 C W Thornton 25 6 9-8 Daniel Tudhope 5 100 76 SP SP
5(8) 33181 Black Rock 35 M A Jarvis 73 3 9-7 Philip Robinson 4 94 89 SP SP
6(4) 311 Opal Haze 19 J H M Gosden 70 3 9-7 Robert Havlin 2 94 14 SP SP
7(3) 93-413 Furmigadelagiusta 58 L M Cumani 80 3 9-6 Jamie Spencer 1 88 71 SP SP
8(6) 622413 Yossi 10 M H Tompkins 55 3 8-12b1 Eddie Ahern 93 87 SP SP
9(5) 131130 Bollin Felix 30 T D Easterby 42 3 8-10b David Allan 91 91 SP SP[/color:1pxg34hy]Save this data to a text file, most of what you need is now captured.
Get back to me and tell me if this is okay with you so far.

ps Alternatively, I am going to see if can get head around Hensman’s "New Web Query".September 24, 2007 at 06:07 #116164Sorry Carlisle I must have missed your point from the above. I did use excel and I did use ‘new web query’ to import my data. I found it very useful indeed. I then input the class figures
I found it difficult to extract the rpr data and odds as that must use differnet coding on the website. Unless Hensman can offer anymore advice
September 24, 2007 at 07:12 #116166Hi 1FurOut
I am impressed, unfortunately I don’t have Excel on my internet computer (only got MS Works stuff). So I cannot try it out.
But doesn’t it give you the entire webpage, and how do you keep the data assigned to it’s correct type/cell?
Explain this slowly because I am not a fast reader.
If we are doing the same races it’s easy enough for me to send you the class figure (Win£/runs), RPR & price info, patched into your data.

Are you downloading cards or results? I mainly download results, when the sps and ratings download with all the rest. Depending on the form of one’s records the sps may need re-formulating (ie I keep my odds records in the form 2.0, 2.5 and 3.3 rather than 2/1, 5/2 or 100/30, but this is done quickly by macro).
There are differences between versions of Excel (and I have no experience yet of the 2007 version). In my experience 2000 is for results, and 2003 for cards, because of the login arrangements for the Post’s site.
September 24, 2007 at 12:22 #116190I use the new web query to import just the race card using excel 2003.
Once the page has loaded I just tick the selection that I want to import. For some reason the RPR date doesn’t import but the TS data does.
Once imported to a blank SS I then cut and paste the relevant data over. So whilst being far from ideal (ie It doesn’t fit straight onto my SS) it does save me a lot of time typing out names etc.
For the data that is missing I simply reduce the size of the excel window and website window and then copy the information across as I see. I reckon I can complete a typical 12 runner race in less than 10 minutes. As I do about six or so race on a weekend then it takes me about 45 mins on a Friday. This leaves me Saturday morning to concentrate on the shortlist
Carlisle with regards to the ss I use the one that you sent me a while back
September 24, 2007 at 12:53 #116195Hi 1FurOut
could you please send me a ss that shows your state of play just after you have imported the racecard.
I think we need to strive for the Ideal, this part of the exercise should only be a (hassle free) 6 minutes for 6 races.

carlisleCarlisle,
I have edited your email address out as it will most likely it will be "spammed". I should exchange email addresses via the internal messaging system – far safer .
Regards – Matron

Thanks for caring mate.

re the RPR ratings, if you choose the postdata option under the main list of runners and betting forecast, and select that as well as the main card for download, you should get the RPR ratings all right.
September 26, 2007 at 07:43 #116479Hi Lamby150
let me know what you think of the spreadsheets that I have just sent you.
