I think the standard has been good as well.
I see those of means have laid into the 2/1 on about two English goals tonight – a basic necessity you would think! Those of us of lesser means have to settle for a more ambitious interest bet of 4 goals @ 9/2. Don’t know what all the hullabaloo is about. England were never going to be the best exponents of the beautiful game.
I think there’s been plenty of good games and regardless of quality, both groups so far have been settled in stoppage time. I happend to be keeping an eye on the odds and Croatia went from 1/20 to 20/1 to qualify in the space of two minutes.
I’m not a huge fan of the 24 team format but it’s still capable of producing drama and it’s never going back so may as well learn to enjoy it
The games I have watched have had next to no quality and minimal excitement. I can remember the 70’s Italian side with a scrooge like defence and the likes of Bettega up front. That side would have embarrassed the side that played last night, and the one that won the Championship last time. Looking at this it looks as if football has gone backwards in 50 years. We have gone from players to athletes.

Nathan, perhaps they looked at the draw and thought, playing England is a better option (if thats the way it pans out).
Im sure the Dutch fans wont be worried about us.Well we knew we were in trouble when we were told it was 29 degrees at start! Roll on Saturday, saw enough inauthentic football today.
Landafar no way Netherlands would have thought about that, surely but such a better draw for finishing 3rd if like you say it pans out that way for them.
It’s a weird concept with 4 of the 6 3rd place teams going through and they knew who Germany were going to be playing before all the groups are decided. I can’t be arsed to even try and comprehend the rationale behind it all.
Game tonight was woeful. Went up the pub and ended up chatting to some bird for +85% of the game…

Absolute dross but group won and it’s knockout football now. It is not a cert that we get Netherlands, although it is the more likely outcome. The other possibility is third in the Belgium group where they are all on 3 points so that could be anyone. As far as I can work out that would need Hungary to be run out of it.
England are 4-1 with PP; think I will take that, looking at the draw. As napoleon said’give me a lucky general.’
