Desperate news, condolences to all connections.

Too bad he didn’t get the much deserved credit for his CH win, as he was the type to become a multiple of the race anyway.Rest in Peace Espoir D’Allen
August 23, 2019 at 19:06 #1451894This is a really tragic loss, not only for his trainer Gavin Cromwell and his team, and owner J.P. McManus, but also for jumps racing in general. As a young horse he showed astonishing pace in winning this year’s Champion Hurdle, and could have developed into another Istabraq or even better. I can’t remember such a promising jumps career being cut short so early since the death of another young Irish hurdler Golden Cygnet in the 1978 Scottish Champion Hurdle. RIP Espoir d’Allen and commiserations to everyone connected with your short but brilliant career.
August 23, 2019 at 19:32 #1451908What a tragic day, with both Espoir d’Allen and Roaring Lion losing their lives.
R.I.P.
August 23, 2019 at 19:33 #1451909Could have been one of the greats. So sad
August 23, 2019 at 21:13 #1451928First and foremost it’s awful for the horse. To lose your life in such a freak way is hard to take.
For racing it’s a huge shame as we’ll never know how good he was.
RIP

Beautiful horse with so much more to give, so sad that he lost his life this way and at such a young age.Things turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...August 23, 2019 at 23:44 #1451965Racing has been dealt a cruel blow today taking the best of the best from both worlds of racing.
Both young horses who had so much of life ahead of them cruelly taken.
