    Rest in peace.

The Karky Schultz fall made me feel physically sick.

I am amazed to see only 3 posts on this sad subject. Surely there are not so few soft-hearted ones among the RF community?

Nope – as Moe mentioned, more tributes here: https://theracingforum.co.uk/horse-r … 85559.html

Absolutely dumbstruck by this loss myself. How I’d hoped he would be able to see out his days with fellow Martin St Quinton-owned hero Monkerhostin once his career had concluded. Sadly, desperately sadly, that’s not to be.

    Rest easy old boy.

Rest easy, too, Karky Schultz. I remember stating in the press following a Uttoxeter win at the start of 2010 that the mistakes that didn’t quite prevent victory that day would need eradicating stepped up in grade, and the evidence of his most recent starts this term suggested they had been. And then this. My heart goes out to James Eustace all concerned with the late gelding.

Only found out last year that they were brothers..well, half brothers. Bet their mum was well proud of her boys.

There have been loads of comments on Eric’s own Facebook page and Tarnya Sherwood has replied to every one of them. Well worth a look to see how popular Eric was.

Have to say I don’t feel the same way. Karky Schultz’s fall did not sicken me nearly as much as Eric’s, because it looked to me to be instant death, presumably a broken neck, so relatively little suffering.

But the sight of a horse still on its feet and trying to move around with a broken leg flapping about is a seriously horrible sight. That did make me feel sick.

Seems that a "Saturday" horse is getting killed on the course with horrible frequency at the moment, doesn’t it?

I know that it can happen to any horse at any time and they’re all very sad but still…

Eric was a real heroic gee and will be sadly missed by many.
