THE LION IN WINTER 20/1 Unibet
Made winning debut over 7f today beating horses who had a run before. Further he went better he look. Has a middle distance pedigree
And if look at that maiden over the years full of top class horses won it No doubt he could be to.
August 21, 2024 at 14:38 #1705197Wins today the fact won quite well at 7f with the fact be suited over middle distances next year is very impressive.
August 21, 2024 at 14:45 #1705198Done it well. Nice price Darren at this stage.
August 21, 2024 at 14:58 #1705200Can’t match Darren’s fantastic 20/1 but taken 17/2. The horse won very well, looks straightforward and should stay. I doubt Ballydoyle have got a better colt than him.

Dunno about that ;o)

Has some entries this weekend and I liked his debut against horses that had already had a run in a barrier trial or maiden. Badly drawn, he initially moved forward but when there was competition for the lead Moore sensibly dropped him in and didn’t give him too hard a time to chase the bird that had flown at the end. Size and scope to progress, got a good name and perhaps it’s significant that Moore rode last time even though his stablemate went off shorter.

March 23, 2025 at 22:11 #1724731Going my usual ante-post route of picking one out from a certain sire, a previous Derby winner or exceptional horse. Missed out on the Justify route last year, same with Frankel (Adayar). Had success with Sea The Stars (Harzand) and New Approach (Masar).
Nothing jumping out at me from the current list though. There’s a couple of Camelot’s in there that would need to vastly improve from their 2 year old form. I’m hoping there’s one or two out there yet to be entered that I can spot. Maybe a Golden Horn or Australia. Will update on my findings.
March 24, 2025 at 05:54 #1724736How about going for a Wootton Bassett Colt this year Chivers …
TWAIN – 10/1 (Corals)
looks to be in with a decent chance although he will need some give in the ground.
Very impressive winning his Maiden at Leopardstown by 6 lengths showing how well he can handle a turning track and going on to win The Group 1 Criterium in France.
Set to be a big player this season and could be the one set to throw down a challenge to his stable companion.
Interesting that Godolphin’s best chance Ruling Court is by Justify. I’ll be keeping my eye on him as he won the Meydan 2000 Guineas impressively’ by 5 lengths, and has now flown back to UK to train for the 2000 Guineas Newmarket and a tilt at the Derby in June. He has a flat action very similar to City Of Troy and I’m Looking forward to seeing him at HQ.
JacThings turn out best for those who make the best of how things turn out...March 24, 2025 at 14:45 #1724769Yea I think Wootton Bassetts make up a large percentage of the current market Jac.
Quite a few Justify’s too, obviously the passing of the incredible sire Galileo has plenty to do with that.Karl Burke has The Last Galileo in his yard, I assume that to mean he is indeed the last one. Unfortunately doesn’t look anywhere near the business to even participate in this race.
Had a look at what Golden Horn had to offer. Answer – Not a lot. He is doing his thing though for the Jumpers.
Will report more soon.April 8, 2025 at 10:34 #1726638Damysus @ 40/1

May 5, 2025 at 12:12 #1729541Cue a spate of withdrawals when a deluge hits the track between final decs and post time.
May 5, 2025 at 12:24 #1729543They should be doing more to promote the meeting as a whole rather than just the Derby imo. There are some other potentially great races across the two days which recently have been pretty awful – the Coronation Cup being the prime example. The Dash is unique. All I can see that they’ve achieved by doing this is making it so the Derby is the only race people are focused on from Wednesday which maybe that is their aim I don’t know? The Oaks isn’t moving from 48 hour decs or the fancy draw stuff they’re on about so the buildup for that will get overshadowed. Doesn’t say much for what they think of that race.

AOB has hinted the same.
May 5, 2025 at 20:26 #1729594I always suspected he copied me.
Now we have proof.
