Gord as you said earlier would you worry about fast ground for your horse at Epsom
My 2 for epsom are MIDTERM but main bet is MOONLIGHT MAGIC a backward 2yo still green but is 2 from 2 while form not strong. With is breeding he bred to be smart 3yo and can see him making a big impact at Epsom what your thoughts on both.

Johannes Vermeer won comfortably on good ground at Killarney Darren but his action suggests a bit of cut suits more.I hope it rains at Epsom as my fellow will get a 11/2m stood on his head,he is related to both ‘Flame of Tara’ and ‘Dancing Brave’.He is also the best looking 2yo I’ve seen this year.
You are an excellent judge yourself so good luck with your 2 Derby horses. My own thoughts…
Midterm Superbly bred colt, never looked like winning his 1m maiden at Newbury but showed already he wants further.I actually fancied the runner-up ‘Magnum’ that day and he too looks a colt of promise.Your ‘Melikah’ colt Moonlight magic is a half brother to the Godolphin filly ‘Hidden Gold’ who is a proper 2m sort so again stamina is a plenty I can see this colt running in the St Leger which means he’ll probably have a Derby campaign although he reminds me of ‘Trading Leather’ to look at and has his willing head,he will come on again but I did feel his stablemate could have beaten him today who is a pretty exposed filly but like I say you know your horses so fingers crossed for you. October 26, 2015 at 17:02 #1219222Hmm. Not convinced with that TAPK.
Over the last 12 years, no Derby winner to come out of their juvenile season with an OR have been rated as low as Johannes Vermeer or Foundation.
*NB – These horses did not receive a rating – Ruler of The World didn’t run at 2. Pour Moi had ran in two low level French races, winning the second. Workforce, North Light & Golden Horn had ran in (winning) Maidens only at 2.
Foundation perhaps has extenuating circumstances due to a true horror passage, although his Derby profile as a RPT also-ran looks extremely shaky.
Johannes Vermeer looks pretty much exposed to me, having won a G3 and failed twice at G1 level. Doesn’t scream, or even whisper, ‘Derby’ to me.

The handicapper hasn’t reassessed Saturday’s runners yet. Chances are he will raise the two mentioned by a few pound which would put them ahead of Sea the Stars who lined up in the Guineas rated 112.

All of Aidan O’Brien’s Derby winners started favourite on their debuts bar Ruler of the World who was 2/1.
Idaho’s starting price on his debut was 4/1…just saying

Kris Kin was rated 86 when he lined up for his first run as a 3 year old.
October 27, 2015 at 07:48 #1219295Hi Bobby, further to your reply:
Regarding Kris Kin, he is outside my 12 year sample, although I am puzzled as to why he had a rating for running in 2 Maidens whereas North Light for example did exactly the same but did not?
I admit I have taken a flyer, but can you really see the 2nd or 3rd getting a hike for their RPT runs? I had assumed there was no chance of this.

You assumed right Tatling Johannes Vermeer rated 109 and Foundation a pound higher.

The winner looks high enough. 7lb higher than the RU for 1.5L? Not sure I understand the rationale.
